Members of Parliament have made a passionate appeal to Speaker Prof. Aaron Michael Oquaye to invite Sports Minister, Isaac Kwame Asiamah, to brief the House on the Black Stars participation in the 2019 Afcon in Egypt.
MP for South Tongu, Kobena Mensah Woyome, who led the charge indicated he filed an urgent question for the Minister, which has not seen expression in next week’s business statement.
He indicated he filed a similar urgent question on the budget of the Black Stars, which incidentally was not answered until the team departed for Egypt.
Mr. Woyome expressed displeasure his urgent question has not to find expression in the business statement and appealed to the speaker to impress on the Minister to come and brief the House.
Former Sports Minister under the Atta-Mills government, Rashid Pelpuo, who supported the call appealed to the Majority leader to alter next week’s business schedule to allow the Minister to brief the House.
According to him, there is so much talk about the team’s budget and why Ghana lost to Tunisia and crashed out of the tournament this early.
He said, “It is important for us to understand what happened to Ghana.”
“This is the first time in eight years that we couldn’t cross the first knockout stage of the tournament and Ghanaians are not happy.”
