Black Stars striker Jordan Ayew says it is hard to comprehend that he has overhauled Tony Yeboah to become Ghana’s highest-scoring player in English Premier League history with 25 goals.

Jordan who is the youngest of the Ayew brothers is having a whirlwind campaign with the world finally recognising his prowess.

For long spells of their careers, the Ayew brothers, and in particular Jordan Ayew has lived in the shadows of this legendary father Abedi Pele but in the last couple of months, he is proving he could be his own man and write his own history.

This term his exploits in front of goal saw him breaking Tony Yeboah’s 23-year-old record.

That record-breaking goal for Crystal Palace against Bournemouth also sent him top of the scorers chart for Palace this season.

The 28-year-old is delighted with his accomplishments this season, especially surpassing Yeboah’s record.

“Tony Yeboah is massive, maybe the best striker of all-time in Ghana,” he told Sky Sports.

”To beat his total and get to 25 goals in the Premier League is a great achievement for me and my family.

“I’ve always thought that I was a good finisher, but sometimes you just need a bit of luck.

“This year, I’ve had quite a bit of luck, but luck doesn’t just come like that, you need to provoke it. I’ve been working really, really hard on that but there’s still room for improvement”, he added

Jordan has often been touted as the man to lead Ghana’s Black Stars attacking frontline in the post-Asamoah Gyan era.

With several AFCON’s and two FIFA World Cups under his belt, it appears that finally, Ghana has an heir apparent to Asamoah Gyan.
