The Acting President of the Ghana Sports Writers Association (SWAG), Ebo Quansah and Major (rtd) Yaw Larson, a former FA member, have applied for the post of FA General Secretary. The post is suppose to become vacant at the end of this month when the term of office of the current one, Worlanyo Agrah expires.

Though, the FA’s Executive Council has not officially advertised the position, sources indicate that the two applied for the post about a month ago after they learnt the incumbent would not be applying for it again.

The out going General Secretary, W.K. Agra last Tuesday, submitted his handing over notes to the newly elected F.A Chairman, Ben Koufie.

Meanwhile, there is still conflict over who has the authority to appoint the General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association. The National Sports Council argues that it has the right to citing SMC Decree 54 for sports.

The Executive Council of the FA on the other hand says it has the authority because the SMC Decree 54 has vested the power to appoint a new General Secretary in them.

Whilst the Executive Council claims that the Football Association is now a professional entity and no longer operates as an amateur which in effect means the F.A no longer operates with the SMC Decree 54.

The National Sports Council, says the FA is not autonomous and that it is the Sports Council that has the right to appoint a General Secretary for the F.A.
