West Brom submit bid for Ghanaian Asumah

Ghanaian-born Asumah Abubakar-Ankrah is heading to the Hawthorns after being handed an opportunity to join Premier League side West Bromwich Albion in a two-week trial, Goal can confirm.

The 20-year-old, who is a first team player for Dutch Eredivise side Willems II, is expected to touchdown in England this next week if his club accept the arrangements made by West Bromwich.

The youngster, who previously played for Ghanaian youth side Anokye Stars in Kumasi, has made 14 appearances for his Dutch club this season, including four starts but he is yet to find the back of the net as the club eye a mid-table finish.

Asumah is scheduled to train with the U23 side of West Brom for one week, before joining the first team for further assessment.

He was part of Portugal's national U19 team that participated in the 2016 Uefa U19 Championship in Germany.

Goal understand that several Dutch and other European clubs have been keeping tabs on the youngster.

Although, he has represented Portugal at the youth level, sources close to him have revealed that he wishes to play for Ghana at senior level.
