A mortgage is a form of loan or debt, that’s why the financiers can go to court to enforce repossession on grounds of nonpayment. Also, you can’t take a mortgage in your name and hand over payment or expect another person to make the payment. Further, not making the obligatory monthly or quarterly payment suggest financial issues. What will explain not paying a mortgage as required other than financial challenges. Come again Obama.

That being said, as a Realtor and US tax consultant, I predict this is the beginning of a string of foreclosure to hit Accra. Real Estate prices are unrealistic. A land worth $100K implies the value of the prop when built should be between $700 - $1M. Meanwhile we spend only about 150 to 200K in building the structure. Hence a 300K house is valued at about $1M.
Go rent the same property and you find out the break even of your investments comes to about 20 years. Which businessman will do that??
This has serious consequences for out banks and the economy. 2009 US/world recession was due to such nonsense; granting unsustainable mortgages.
SIT AND WAIT. I warned of this last year and this is just the BEGINNING.

NB: BRICS wants to get of usage of the dollar. That value is about to drop. Making an already bad situation, much worse.

Mr. Saddick Adams is lying about Michael Essien not being broke. Essien is Broke and doesn't have any money at the moment. I know this personally because I know the people who felt they could help him resolve his debt but all failed at getting him what he needed. The man was mismanaged by his own trusted white agents who enriched themselves from his resources he earned playing football. Most players don't realize that white people look out for whites who use blacks as tools to enrich themselves.

Essien had a coach who helped him start his career at St. AUGUSTINES COLLEGE that he ignored and never helped during the man's last days. His name was Mr. Kweku Bentum. The man even travel to Accra to celebrate Essien one time at the stadium when the blackstars were training and tried to say hi to Essien and was totally and disrespectfully shauned by Essien when he became a star. It was another athlete from the same school who rose to the occasion and paid for Mr. Bentums upkeep until he passing. That Athletes name was Sky who will even be pissed off if he reads this post because he never went broadcasting what he did to anyone but credit is worth given where it is due.

Essien had another gentleman who helped him at St Augustines called Osepe. Essien use to sleep in this guy's room and he helped Essien and protected him like his little brother. When Essien became famous and the gentleman went to see him at Accra sports stadium, Essien pretended as if he didn't know the man. That same man told me that he went to Sky for help and was given the help and through that he was finally able to pay off a lot of his bills and get a good job with that Sky guy's help.

I write this because it is sad that most of our great football players end up loosing everything because of how bad they treat the people who give them their start. They end up leaving those people and trusting new people who come into their life to exploit them. When they loose everything, they become relics of their famous era and people make them a laughing stock.

Players like Osei Kuffour never left those they started out with behind. Asamouh Gyan, Adenayor, and the modern players who stayed with the crew are still thriving today. Abedi Pele, Tony Yeboah, and the likes stayed with the women who were with them and they are still thriving today. I pray the new younger players learn to be grateful and not treat people who support them badly when they become star.

Why sit there and make up tales about the borrower being the one who decided that the properties should be sold, when most readers can tell that the banks must have secured judgment against the borrower, and that was the reason for the sale of the properties. Placing the properties in his wife's name doesn't shield Essien from liability for those mortgages. And it's hard to believe the claim that property values shot up in the area, and that the mortgage payments also went up. That sports guy probably has never seen a copy of Essien's mortgage. Mortgage payments don't rise simply because property values in a neighborhood have risen.

That is what happened, so to say Akosua Puni was taking care of the house is bullshit. The mortgage is in Essien's name so he is legally liable.
