M Essien like his former colleagues, Anthony Annan never advertised themselves. They did their talking on the pitch, not much dribbling, resilient when the point was tough, no shifting of blame or waiting to make a fake apology for their failure and making fake promises of winning next matches. Appiah, Muntari, J.Mensah
and later KP,, Abayie, Dramani, Habib , Asamoah etc respected and had confidence in themselves.
