  You know referees have been attacked on suspicion of favoritism? What if this referee is officiating a match involving Inter Miami and another Team which suspects some unfavorable calls. A picture of that referee and Messi socializing will fuel the fire. Above all, Messi's autograph is as good as money, especially for his sponsors!

  In my book, the referee should have been banned for life. That was a lapse in judgement for asking a player's autograph after refereeing the game involving the player. No one is against him asking a player's autograph on his own time when he is not on the field as a referee. It shows that he might not call a fair and honest game involving his idol, Messi. This act alone should question his impartiality as a referee. What would fans say if he calls a penalty in favor of Messi if player just touches him?
