The local journalists are thinking about their selfish interest because if more locals are invited into the national team, they the journalists will make a lot of money, but we thank God that the minister is thinking about national interest. If you think about national interest, you wouldn't care about where the player is coming from or which league he plays for, like France. Otto Addo shouldn't allow himself to be pressured by the media to invite local players, he will fail. Invite quality and not because he plays in the local league and because we want to improve the league. The France, Brazilian, Argentinian national teams are stronger than the English national team yet still the English league is stronger than the leagues in these countries. Improving your league has nothing to do with your national team.

Just Google Burkhard Ziese era in Ghana as BS coach and the players he used. Mostly the defence , he used local players and BS became fearsome again. He used Edward Ansah , Kwasi Appiah, Emmanuel Ampiah , Armah Senegal, Ablade Kumah , Yaw Acheampong and some foreign based players. BS became a team to beat. Our local league benefitted and became stronger, competitive and attractive. Come to Jones era as BS coach and see the players he used because the foreign based had let the whole country down. Liberia had come to beat us in Accra 3- 1. Next match BS los to Sudan 1-0. So coach Jones decided to use all local players . That was the era of Osei Kufour , Charles Taylor etc. The local league became more attractive again and stadiums were filled up. It is a known fact that the performance of our local league , directly affects our BS.
