  The mentality and practice of "state burial" for our sportsmen and women, entertainers, musicians, politicians is just foolhardy and waste of public money.
  Our farmers or feeders who toil and sweat to feed society are never given "state burial". Who serves human society more than the farmer?
  We cannot sing or ran or amuse or write or pass laws or entertain, etc., etc. But the feeding farmers are never granted "state burial".
  Footballers can never play football when hungry there is famine in Nigeria, but listen to Taribo West and others.

  Assuming that a teacher teaches students, the teacher gets paid right? The students he/she teaches some grows up to be teachers, doctors, nurses, engineers and their like who enter other professions working for the state. Now, a footballer plays for the country and also get paid. He/ she is also able to bring trophies to the country. So what's the difference between the footballer or some other people, who are always shouting at roof tops demanding from the government to give them state burials, and the families of teachers or nurses who are left to their fate when the teacher or the nurse passes on?

I still respect the Brazil 2014 team for demanding their match bonus in advance. People like Peter Rufai, Yekini and the others got nothing from playing for the nation and died really poor unable to pay their medical bills as they had no pension. Even 500000 naira $400 would mhave helped. Hope the current player are watching
