  Djiku, Salisu?, Opoku, Adjetey, Mumin, Aidoo, Kojo Oppong Preprah, Kohn, Mensah, Seidu, Lamptey, Nathaniel Adjei, Ebenezer Annan, Patric Pfeiffer? Even some of these players will have to be trimmed off. WHO CAN THIS KOTOKO PLAYER BENCH OUT OF THESE 17 DEFENDERS.

  FIFA eligibility is based on nationality, not residence or passion alone.
  A player can represent a country if at least one of these applies:
  
  He was born in the country
  His biological parent or grandparent was born there
  He has acquired citizenship and has lived continuously for at least 5 years after turning 18 in that countrSimply living in a country for 2 years is NOT enough under FIFA rules.
  Also:
  
  Once a player plays a competitive senior international match (AFCON qualifiers, World Cup qualifiers, etc.), he is cap-tied and cannot switch.
  Youth appearances can allow a switch, but only under strict conditions.
  2. Can a Congolese player living in Ghana for 2 years become Ghanaian and play for the Black Stars?
  Short answer: No — not yet.
  Long answer:
  
  Even if Ghana grants him citizenship (which itself is not automatic),
  FIFA still requires 5 years of continuous residence after age 18 for naturalised players
  Those 5 years must be clearly documented
  So:
  A Congolese player who has been in Ghana for about 2 years is NOT eligible to play for Ghana under FIFA rules.
  There is no shortcut, no special exception, no “because he plays for Kotoko” clause.
  3. “If he’s that good, why hasn’t Congo invited him?”
  This is a fair question — and there are several sensible explanations, none of which mean he’s not good:
  National team depth: DR Congo has many Europe-based players competing at high levels
  Timing: Call-ups depend on form, tactics, injuries, and coaching preference
  Exposure: Playing in the Ghana Premier League doesn’t always attract the same scouting attention as Europe
  Administrative issues: Some players are in contact with their FA but paperwork or logistics delay call-ups
  So lack of invitation ≠ lack of quality.
  At the same time, no player is “too good to be ignored forever.” If his level is truly international, the call will usually come.

  From what is publicly known:
  No competitive senior appearances for DR Congo

  Admiring a foreign player’s commitment to a Ghanaian club is fine
  Wanting quality in the national team is normal
  But eligibility is governed by law and FIFA statutes, not vibes or club loyalty
  If a player:
  Qualifies legally
  Commits long-term

  Then welcoming him is reasonable.
  If not, then patience — and fairness — matters.
