When was the last time Ghana won Afcon (with Ghanaian or foreign coach)?

We should hire a coach based on competence. If a Ghanaian coach has the requisite competence, that will be preferred.

@ Blue Pen : Until we massively invest in our domestic league to produce the core-players locally where foreign based or foreign born may come in to improve the team, the adopted "frefrekobo" assembled team cannot win anythin ...

You are right. Think Osei Kofi is up on his head on this one. The 2 occasions we used local coaches (counting Otto Addo as one) at the world cup the results were disastrous.

We don't need a Ghanaian coach at this point and time. Let go for a foreign coach with good track record

  • Paa Pee 3 months ago

Which coach has a good track record? Maybe Pep but not on national level and he needs lots of money to buy players for Ghana. There is no good caoch with 5years track record. You can get 4years for the Senegal coach.

  • JK Sasraku 3 months ago

Please don’t encourage them to pick another Ghanaian coach, just because he is from Ghana. Ghana needs a man who will be his own man, not dictated to by the greedy GFA people, but who will be respected by the players.

Archaic mentality. We are now in a digital world so , let's stop that mentality that no foreign coach ever won a trophy for the Black Stars. Wasn't it a foreign coach that for the first time sent the Stars to the world cup?

Ghana has failed miserably in CHAN, U17, U20 and U23 in the past several years. The coaches in all these instances were Ghanaians. We have not done better in the last three AFCONs.

He doesn't want the youth of today know that there are better players today than when he was hailed as a 'magic dribbler'. He probably wouldn't be picked for today's Black Stars.

    Lets be practically intelligent here.
Yes no foreign coach has won a trophy for Ghana; but when was the last time a 'local coach' won a trophy. That was in 1982, some 44-years ago. How relevant is that now?
