Former Black Stars coach, James Kwasi Appiah
Former Black Stars head coach, James Kwasi Appiah, has reaffirmed his commitment to Ghana amid growing speculation linking him to a return to the national team job.
According to a source close to the coach, reports suggesting that Appiah has distanced himself from the Black Stars role following the exit of Otto Addo are false and misleading.
“Kwasi Appiah has served Ghana all his life and will never turn his back on the country if his services are needed,” the source told GhanaWeb. “The claims that he has distanced himself from the job are not true and are merely fabricated propaganda by certain individuals.”
The source, however, acknowledged that Appiah is currently under contract with the Sudan national football team, where he remains gainfully employed.
It was further revealed that, following the circulation of reports linking him to a possible return to coach the Ghana national football team, Appiah was contacted by the President of Sudan.
According to the source, the Sudanese leader reminded Appiah of his existing contractual obligations and stressed that any approach from Ghana must follow official procedures.
“The President told him clearly that he has a contract with Sudan, so if Ghana wants him back, they must go through the proper channels and do the needful,” the source added.
Appiah, who previously managed the Black Stars, remains one of the names being discussed as the Ghana Football Association considers its next steps after Otto Addo’s departure.
