CAF president Motsepe heads to Senegal amid rising tensions

The President of the Confederation of African Football, Dr Patrice Motsepe, is expected to arrive in Senegal on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, for high-level talks aimed at easing tensions following a controversial ruling by the CAF Appeals Board.

Dr Motsepe’s visit comes at a critical time, amid rising tensions within Senegalese football following the Appeals Jury’s decision to strip them of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title.

During his visit, the CAF President is scheduled to meet with officials of the Senegalese Football Federation, as well as key government representatives.

The discussions are expected to focus on restoring confidence, addressing grievances, and reinforcing cooperation between CAF and its member associations.

His intervention underscores the seriousness of the matter and CAF’s commitment to maintaining unity across African football.
