He went on to express his condolences to the bereaved family and the Ghana Football Association (GFA), urging them to remain strong in these trying times.
“Please accept my personal and CAF’s deepest condolences to the family, friends, and teammates of Dominic Frimpong, as well as to the Ghana Football Association,” he added.
Dominic Frimpong tragically lost his life during a robbery attack while Berekum Chelsea were returning from their Ghana Premier League match against Samartex on April 12, 2026.
The incident occurred at Ahyiresu on the Bibiani-Goaso road following their Matchday 29 clash against FC Samartex in Samreboi, where Berekum Chelsea had suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat.
According to reports, the robbers blocked the road, forcing the team bus to stop before launching the attack. Attempts by the driver to reverse away from the scene proved unsuccessful as the assailants advanced.
The situation quickly escalated, with gunshots reportedly fired. Frimpong sustained a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
