Former Germany international, Gerald Asamoah has raised concerns about the current state of the Black Stars following the team's heavy defeat to Austria.

Reflecting on recent performances, Asamoah pointed to inconsistency among individual players in the squad, citing Thomas Partey as a notable example.

According to him, despite flashes of brilliance particularly in a previous game against Germany, the player appears to be struggling with confidence, which is affecting his overall performance.

Asamoah, however, stressed that the issue goes beyond individual players and points to a larger problem within the team setup.

“Let’s ask ourselves, who are the players to carry this team? That’s the problem you need to ask yourself,” he said.

Reflecting on Ghana’s performance against Austria, the former Schalke forward did not mince words, describing the team’s display as below the standards expected of a national side.

“Seeing the game in Austria, I’ll never underrate Austria, but it was like a dead team what they presented us. We need to present ourselves as a nation not to lose 5-1” he said.

The ex-Germany star emphasized that regardless of the team’s current strength, representing the country should come with a certain level of pride and competitiveness.

“What are we good at? Are we good in defending or offensive game? As I see, we are really good in offensive, so we need to work on our defensive plays. Keeping them at zero is always the best” he added.
