Samuel Andoh’s journey reads like a story written far from comfort, but shaped by hunger, sacrifice, and belief.

Born in a small village in Ghana’s Volta Region, Samuel’s early life was defined by struggle rather than spotlight. When he moved to Accra as a young teenager in search of opportunities, stability was never guaranteed.

He lived with an aunt for a while, but when she left the city, Samuel was left drifting between relatives’ homes, unsure where the next chapter would begin. Football, however, remained the only constant thing in his life.

That turning point came when the owner of a local club he featured for gave him not just a place in the team, but a roof over his head.

For Samuel, it was more than support, it was survival.

His talent began to speak louder in 2021 when he was spotted by Academy 11 Ghana, a non-profit organisation committed to developing young talent through football, education, and discipline.

The structure they provided changed everything.

He trained, studied, and lived within a system that ensured he never had to choose between the classroom and the pitch.

By 2023, he had secured admission to Accra High School while continuing his development under the Academy 11 programme.

It was at the Bazaki Tournament, organised by Kudus Mohammed, where Samuel truly announced himself.

He dominated the competition and walked away as the 2025 MVP, a performance that would become the launchpad for what followed.

That spark soon carried him beyond Ghana’s borders.

In 2024, Samuel earned a full scholarship to Northwood Prep School in Lake Placid, New York.

After completing his visa process, he made the life-changing move to the United States in August, stepping into a completely new world of academics and competitive football.

Today, he is adapting quickly, balancing schoolwork with football, while continuing to grow in confidence and discipline on and off the field.

Reflecting on his impact, Lee Kellett, founder and executive director of Academy 11 Ghana, was full of praise for the teenager.

“Samuel’s story is a true testament to what can be achieved when talent is supported with the right resources and opportunities. We are incredibly proud of his accomplishments and look forward to seeing him continue to grow and succeed at Northwood Prep.”
