The Power Puff Girls won gold at the 2026 African Continental Tour Meeting International
A brilliant combination of speed, chemistry and youthful talent propelled Ghana to gold in the women’s 4x100m relay at the 2026 African Continental Tour Meeting International in Abidjan on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.
The Ghanaian quartet, made up of Aisha Jaffar of T.I AMASS, Gladys Boateng of St Louis SHS, Adelaide Fosuaa of T.I AMASS and Leticia Ohenewaa of St Louis SHS delivered an outstanding performance to clinch the gold medal in 44.38 seconds.
Nicknamed the “Power Puff Girls” by athletics enthusiasts, the young Ghanaian stars held off strong competition from the host nation to finish atop the podium.
Côte d’Ivoire settled for silver after clocking 44.51 seconds, while Burkina Faso claimed bronze in 45.75 seconds.

The victory highlighted the growing dominance of Ghana’s school athletics system, with both T.I AMASS and St Louis SHS continuing to produce elite sprint talents capable of shining on the international stage.
Ghana’s success in Abidjan did not end there. Former Okomfo Anokye Senior High School athlete Godfred Opoku also produced a memorable display in the men’s 400m final, storming to gold with an impressive time of 45.70 seconds.
The strong performances by the Ghanaian athletes capped a successful outing for the country at the continental event and reinforced the promise of a bright future for Ghana's athletics.
