  Pride doesn't cut it. Somenya should have played for England and not Ghana, the country that gave him the opportunity to develop into the player he is today. Lacking opportunities in Ghana, his parents migrated to England, and how did they pay back the country that gave them the opportunity, they steered their son into playing for Ghana, a country he' has never lived in and that's foreign to him. His parents are ungrateful and any foreign born Ghanaian who doesn't play for the coutry of his birth is a traitor and an ungrate. The country shuns dual citizens who want to engage in politics and yet duly welcome foreign born Ghanaians into Black Stars.

  Having lived in both Ghana and the UK, I place significant value on functioning institutions, rule of law, public services, and the general respect for individual rights that I experience in the UK. From that perspective, statements that focus solely on "blood" and "roots" can sound unconvincing because they overlook the practical realities of daily life.
  
  Heritage matters, but opportunity, institutions, and the country that helped you become successful matter too.
  
  Does loyalty come primarily from where your family came from, or from the society that helped you build your life?

  There was no way he would have played for Ghana if he was on England's radar the time we poached him. His very mother would have advised him not against. He saw an opportunity to play the 2022 world cup because I don't think he believed he would hit the heights he did at Bournemouth. We got him before his form peaked otherwise he would have never played for Ghana.
