Former Greater Accra Regional Minister, Titus Glover, has cast doubt on Ghana’s chances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, admitting he has become so disillusioned with the Black Stars that he would rather spend his time watching a Nigerian movie than follow the national team.

The outspoken politician made the remarks in comments on Metro TV, adding to the growing debate surrounding expectations for Ghana ahead of the tournament in North America.

“I would rather watch a Nigerian movie than watch the Black Stars play,” Glover said.

His comments come despite a renewed sense of optimism following the appointment of head coach Carlos Queiroz and Ghana’s recent preparations for the World Cup.

However, Glover appears unconvinced that the Black Stars can significantly improve on the performances that have frustrated supporters in recent years.

The national team has endured a turbulent period marked by disappointing tournament exits, inconsistent displays and criticism from fans, leading many observers to question whether Ghana can compete with the top nations on the global stage.

The Black Stars recently drew 1-1 with Wales in a pre-tournament friendly and have since travelled to the United States, where they will continue preparations before facing Panama in their opening Group L fixture.

Ghana will also come up against England and Croatia.
