  Mexico aside, the north Americans should have never been allowed to host such a global tournament. Except Mexico, football is not even their major sport. They inject politics into everything. We have been enjoying WC for decades until FIFA allowed them to host it and all of a sudden, referees, players, technical team members and others for several nations are not allowed to enter for one reason or the other. If Qatar had done even half of what they have done, the Western media will be all over them. This is very shameful.

  kindly tell the Canadian Immigration Minister ( Ms Diab) that Thomas Partey is not seeking residence, employment, or long-term entry. He seeks temporary entry solely to represent his country at the FIFA World Cup. Any concerns can be managed through conditions attached to a Temporary Resident Permit. The public benefits of admitting him for this particular FIFA assignment far outweighs the immigration concerns!

  Also tell the immigration that Partey is a well established soccer player just coming to represent his country for just one match. If you like we will pay RCMP to monitor his movements as he is not coming to seek asylum.

Now, one thing a out law is this..everything is left to interpretation..if the parties involved have overlying interest..in this particular case, England, a Canadian ally has intervend behind closed doors. Ghana shouldn't do anything just fight with what you have..I had a 4.0 and applied to the university of Toronto for graduate school. The faculty refused to give me a scholarship. When I queried, I was told that the scholarship had already been given out. I appealed. The university refused to get involved. I had to pay out of pocket and apply for a available bursaries etc..is this fair? These fools o ro is will never make things fair so me if I get them.....

  What at all is difficult for Ghanaians, esp the govt officials to understand abt this decision? The decision is based on Canadian immigration law, which clearly states that, you are criminally inadmissible to Canada if you have committed an offence. In the lwgislation, there is a section for conviction and there is another for committing, which was used gor party. Even though it's a bitter decision for Ghana, that's Cdn law and Canada decides what it wants in its immigration law to be. What Ghana Black Stars and govt officials shld have done was to start this process way back and apply for what is called Temporary Resident permit for Partey. Otherwise, like the Ministry said, they can ask for judicial review of the decision, which can take forever. So let's stop throwing things around. A law is a law, period.

  At issue is the hypocrisy of Canada and their robust inferiority complex on full display. They excoriate their southern neighbor for their strict enforcement of immigration laws and their judicial system, and yet here we have an arbitrarily strict enforcement of an immigration law that has disdain for due process protections -- a cornerstone of a strong judicial system --baked into it. The only reason Partey had the visa denied is because of the nature of the allegations against him. Keep in mind the people in the Canadian government are perfectly happy to accept people who aren't vetted at all via illegal immigration, to prove to the world that they are virtuous.
