‘Caleb Yirenkyi is a future talent’ – Jordan Ayew

Black Stars captain, Jordan Ayew has heaped praise on youngster Caleb Yirenkyi following his brilliant performance against Panama in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to him, the Nordsjaelland midfielder has been exceptional since joining the national team, which speaks to his quality as a player.

The former Leicester City forward noted that Yirenkyi is a future talent for the Black Stars and deserves to be closely monitored and given the necessary support to reach his full potential.

Speaking to 3Sports after the game, Ayew was full of admiration for the 20-year-old following his exploits against Panama.

“He did really well. Since he’s come in, he’s been exceptional. And, you know, all credit to him, he deserves it."

"He’s been doing really well, he does his job. And, you know, he’s a future talent. So we need to protect him and make sure that he gets to his full potential,” he said.

After England’s 4-2 win against Croatia, the Three Lions lead Group L with three points, alongside Ghana, while Panama and Croatia sit third and fourth with zero points after the first round of matches.
