Black Stars defender, Jonas Adjetey, has delivered a humble reflection on his place in Ghana's senior national team, insisting that he never takes a national team call-up for granted.

Speaking on Beyond the Whistle, on Monday June 29, 2026, Adjetey said every invitation to represent Ghana reminds him of the many talented players still waiting for their turn to play for the country.

"Anytime I get a call-up, I give thanks to God because I know there are a lot of people out there who deserve the chance; people who are even doing better than I am," he said.

The defender described wearing the Black Stars jersey as one of the greatest honours of his career, saying the opportunity motivates him to keep improving.

"I love representing my nation. Every time I get the chance, I become so excited. I don't even know how to express that excitement," he said.

Adjetey stressed that earning a place in the national team is only the beginning, noting that players must consistently prove they deserve to remain in the squad.

"It's one thing to be selected and another to stay here. I always remind myself that I have to keep working and contributing to remain part of this team," he added.

The defender also credited the welcoming atmosphere within the Black Stars camp for helping him settle quickly.

"The players welcomed me warmly. Nobody made me feel like an outsider. They joked with me, supported me and made me feel at home from the very first day," he said.
