Kofi Adams is the Minister of Sports and Recreation
Ghana's Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, has urged the Black Stars to remain united following their elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a 1-0 defeat to Colombia in the Round of 32.
Addressing the players and technical team in the dressing room after the match at Kansas City Stadium, Adams thanked them for their commitment throughout the tournament and praised the coaching staff for their efforts behind the scenes.
"Let's continue to be together and be a team," the Minister told the squad.
"The technical team, we thank you for the huge work and investment you have done. We know the sleepless nights that you have to analyse many, many videos to develop a strategy. We don't take this for granted."
Ghana's World Cup campaign came to an end after Jhon Arias scored the only goal of the game in the 14th minute, sending Colombia into the Round of 16.
"Our wish was to have continued. In a game of football, no matter how many minutes you play, whether it is 90 minutes or 120, one team will have to win, whether it is through penalties or what. Fortunately, or unfortunately for us, the decision was within the 90 minutes," he said.
The Minister also shifted attention to Ghana's next challenge, urging the players and technical team to build on their World Cup performance ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
"We are grateful for your time and everything. I think everybody sees that we have taken a good step and we are moving forward. We will work together and see how we can take our next immediate journey."
He concluded with a message of unity, saying: "We are a team, we win together and lose together."
