Black Stars head coach, Carlos Queiroz believes Ghana’s future success will depend on much more than what happens during the 90 minutes on matchday.

Reflecting on Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign in a message posted on his official Facebook page, the Portuguese coach stressed that improving the national team requires building stronger structures away from the field as well.

“The future of the Black Stars will not be built only on the pitch. Black Stars success must start off the field, by creating the best possible environment to prepare, protect and develop Ghana’s extraordinary football talent,” Queiroz wrote.

The statement offers a glimpse into the philosophy Queiroz believes Ghana must embrace if the Black Stars are to compete consistently with the world’s best nations.

While Ghana reached the Round of 32 at the World Cup and restored belief following the disappointment of Qatar 2022, Queiroz suggested that qualifying for the knockout stage should not be viewed as the end goal.

“I leave this journey with pride in what we achieved, but also with the healthy dissatisfaction of those who always wanted more. Reaching a higher level should never be the destination, it should be the beginning of even greater ambitions,” he said.

The experienced coach also thanked the Ghana Football Association, his players, technical staff and supporters for their trust and commitment throughout the tournament.

His message has also fuelled speculation over his future, with many supporters interpreting it as a farewell statement.

However, the Ghana Football Association has not issued any official communication regarding whether Queiroz will remain in charge of the Black Stars.
