Carlos Queiroz is the head coach of the Black Stars
Carlos Queiroz has urged Ghana football authorities to look beyond results on the pitch and focus on building the structures needed to help the Black Stars achieve sustained success.
In a reflective message posted on his official Facebook page after Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign, the Black Stars head coach stressed that the country’s future success depends on creating the right environment for players to thrive.
“The future of the Black Stars will not be built only on the pitch. Black Stars success must start off the field, by creating the best possible environment to prepare, protect and develop Ghana’s extraordinary football talent,” he wrote.
The comments highlight what the experienced coach believes should be the next step after Ghana’s encouraging World Cup campaign, which saw the Black Stars reach the Round of 32 before exiting to Colombia.

Queiroz pointed to the importance of long-term planning, player welfare and a professional environment capable of maximising the country’s rich football talent.
The Portuguese also expressed gratitude to the Ghana Football Association, thanking its president and board for giving him the opportunity to serve the national team.
He equally reserved praise for his players and technical staff, commending their courage, commitment and unwavering dedication throughout the tournament.
Although the Black Stars fell short of progressing beyond the Round of 32, Queiroz believes the team restored respect and credibility on the global stage.
