Two of football’s most trusted transfer insiders, Fabrizio Romano and Florian Plettenberg, have found themselves at the centre of a public disagreement over Yan Diomande’s proposed move to Real Madrid.

The debate erupted after Romano posted his trademark “Here We Go”, claiming Real Madrid had reached a full agreement with RB Leipzig to sign the highly-rated Ivorian winger for a fee exceeding €100 million.

According to Romano, Diomande was set to travel to Madrid for a medical before signing a contract until June 2031.

However, Sky Germany journalist Plettenberg quickly pushed back, insisting there was still no agreement between the two clubs despite Paris Saint-Germain withdrawing from the race.

While admitting Real Madrid were favourites to land the 19-year-old, Plettenberg stressed that negotiations remained ongoing and that Sky would only report the deal once it was fully completed.

The conflicting reports soon escalated into a social media exchange, with Romano dismissing claims that Manchester City were still in the race and accusing others of spreading inaccurate information.

Plettenberg responded by defending his reporting and insisting his updates were based on verified information from sources close to the negotiations.

Despite the disagreement, both journalists agree on one key point: Diomande is expected to join Real Madrid, with PSG having pulled out of the race and the Spanish giants now leading the chase for one of Europe’s most exciting young talents.
