George Afriyie is blaming the wrong man. Defensive football is not cowardice—it is a tactical choice, especially when your squad is weaker than the opposition. You cannot criticize Queiroz for being defensive while admitting that Semenyo, Ayew, Fatawu, and the other attackers were nowhere near their best. Coaches don't score goals—players do.
Let's not forget that Thomas Partey, Ghana's best defensive midfielder, is irreplaceable. Sebo is simply not at Partey's level, while Yirenkyi was even converted from right-back into midfield to plug a gap. Queiroz had to work with what he had.
People forget that José Mourinho won some of football's biggest trophies with disciplined defending and lethal counterattacks. Even France look vulnerable (against the 3Lions) when their attackers fail to press and dominate. The best defence is often a dangerous attack—but when your attackers don't deliver, blaming the coach alone is both lazy and dishonest.

Before Afriyie talks about defensive tactics of the coach, he needs to tell us if Ghana has quality talents like we use to have in the past decades. Stop blaming Quiroz. Our number 9, point attacker and captain is a second division player warming up the bench every single game and you expect a magic from the coach.
Ghana needs to take a break for the next 5 years, build a team with some new talents.
