The General Manager of Aduana FC, Takyi Arhin, has urged the public to direct their anger at the government over the abysmal performances of the Black Stars in recent times.

According to him, it is the responsibility of the government to invest in the various national teams by providing funds to the GFA to embark on projects that will help the teams perform.

“Responsibility should be on the head of the Sports Ministry or the government. You don't know what you are teaching. If the owner is not giving you money to do your operations and whatever, would the season be okay? Yeah, the government is not pushing up. It's not giving us money,” he said in an interview with Sporty FM.

The Aduana FC General Manager went on to cite how the Senegalese government has invested massively in national teams and sporting infrastructure, which has contributed to the nation’s rise in football on the continent.

He indicated that the same cannot be said about Ghana, where even the maintenance of sports stadia is problematic. Therefore, he argued that the GFA should not be entirely blamed for the Black Stars’ woes.

“My brother, let's compare other countries. Let's go to Senegal. There's a whole lot of sporting facilities being built by the government. Have you seen the same here in Ghana? It came to a point when national teams wouldn't even play. Where to play was even a problem. Okay, inspectors will come; they'll go to Kumasi, they'll go to Accra, to see whether the stadium is fit for purpose. It's the work of the government. If you read the Constitution, it says it beholds on any government to build recreational centres for its diminution.

“Is the government doing the same? All lands have been sold to developers. There's nowhere even to build. But they've sold every land. But people say that for every because it's a shared responsibility. If the government does not give money for the upkeep of the national team, what will they do?” he questioned.

After head coach Carlos Queiroz resigned following the Black Stars’ back-to-back defeats to Côte d'Ivoire and The Gambia in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, the GFA has faced backlash over what critics describe as the mishandling of football affairs.

The association has been accused of incompetence in appointing national team coaches, with the Black Stars having had about seven managers during Kurt Okraku’s seven-year tenure in office.
