This is making us missing the Ayews because they are the players who can take the ball to the opponent to create a penalty or free-kick closer to the 18 box. We are missing player makers and that is the truth!

Let's all be honest how many players can give accurate passes and through-passes like Asante. That guy is on a different level. When our team plays poor, allow us to say it. Why some of you hate it when the truth is told? Yes we won, yes the winning is the most important; however, this is not a team that was supposed to break our midfield. If Cape Verde can break us like that then what are we going to do when we meet a real team?

We need to tell it as it is and stop that sugar coding. If we don't talk about it, it wouldn't get fix. We will think we have the best which on the field we don't. Unless all these pot holes are sealed, we will have problems with teams that can take advantage on our numerous wasting of possessions.

Moreover, in case you don't know, in football, no one runs none-stop for five minutes. That is why you need to play with wisdom. You separate yourself to receive the ball, you look and give it out to your opponent. I played alongside great players. Even now, I still play. So you see, not everyone on this forum never played. We're through to the Semi finals and that's all that matters. Now the quater finals is history, we now need to know who we're playng next and get ready for them. Leave Ivory Coast out for now, when we meet them Appiah will definately know what to do. Remember, the Ivorians had to come from behind to draw against Algeria. If an African team can put in 2 goals against Ivory Coast, then know that no team can be taken for granted. Therefore, do whatever it takes to win every match and that's all that matters.

Now, I agree with you Sulley. Asamoah Gyan has been watching the matches from the pitch not off the pitch. That is not good. He is in the game and nothing is seeing in him. I think Appiah is keeping the youngster for the important matches since he just recuperated from injury.

Kissi Boateng's case is what I don't understand because John Paintsil hasn't been himself since the beginning of the tournament. Instead of him to keep the balls on the ground, he rather loops or keeps the balls high whilst he himself knows that our players are too short for those passes.

If this performance was a tactical mapping, then I will be satisfy with the result. However, if it is not, then folks, we need to tight our belts because the nations that are left wouldn't fall for this lay back midfield performance. There were too many loop holes at the midfield than usual.

I also agree with you on the coach to come out and pronounce Dauda as our number 1 goalie. The goalkeeper did superbly well. He deserves it, at least for this match.

We can't play the same way all the time. It's just like life. Some days are windy and some are cloudy. You can't always eat your cake and have it. We went into the 2nd half to soak pressure and catch them on the breaks. It was really a nerve wrecking game but I guess Appiah's game plan worked pretty well. Though the 2nd goal came a bit too late, I guess it was a good tactical game mastered by Appiah and his bench staff. All our matches can't be the same.

I can conclude that they DID NOT underestimate Cape Verde, but BS failed to impose THEIR WILL and also prevent UNFORCED ERRORS. The BS made only 8 shots at goal and only two were on target, whiles Cape Verde made 16 shoots at goal and 7 were on target.

If Ghana beat Cape Verde they can win the Cup. They're currently playing 4-3-3 formation when they are in possession,as soon as they loose the ball it changes to 5-4-1 formation and Ghanaians are finding it very difficult to pass through this defense .

Irrespective of the fact that Ghana need to score they should be cautious because Cape Verde on counter is very dangerous.

The second half is what gonna prove KWASI APPIAH tactical ability.Ghana should start to move into spaces, use the wings and give diagonal long passes.

Ghana can win this match.Also Cape verde being very clinical on the field will posse problem for Ghana.

He also lacked confidence even though you claim he is experienced. Which experienced goal keeper never build confidence? If you are experienced, your confidence is with you wherever you go and you need no lesson to be used to any mentality in today's soccer. Do we play a square-shaped ball in Africa that he has to be used to, or we play in the air and water that he does not know. Do you think Fatau just started keeping just yesterday? He started when he was about 12 years and at 15 he was keeping post in matches involving a lot of professionals when they are at home for holidays including the likes of Alex Nyarko, Emmanuel Kuffuor, Kwansah, Owusu Benson, Yaw preko (sometimes) and many more. If you don't know, he has been invited before on the local black stars team, so he knows what he is doing. If you think Kwarasey is better than him, tell us what kwarasey does better or different and stop talking down about him without reason. What standard are you talking about? A good goal keeper is known when he performs in a top rated match like the AFCON and performs well consistently without flop; exactly what Dauda did and continue to do. I did not want to take side on these goal keepers but I think the records needs to be set straight. Daniel Agyei is also no cheap goal keeper; we saw it in the youth world cup.

Reasons;

COACH
Kwesi Appiah made his substitutions very late though the midfield was completely broken after we scored the first goal; Rabiu should have made way for a more holding midfielder, Derek. Cape Verd's Platini should have been marked throughout by an assigned player as Paintsil was seriously leaking and suffering from his swiftness. I was probably expecting a defender like Akaminko or Jonathan Mensah to replace him and give a boost to our central defenders when the opponents find themselves in the 18 yards; that did not happen.
Adomah's change was a plus for Appiah as it strengthened the upfront a bit.
Cape Verde from the way they played showed they watched our clip against Niger very well and found the antidotes which was using the wings especially the right back.
In all the Stars where yearning for a direction from the coach at some point which failed to come as they kept playing out of formation and easily losing ball possessions.
PLAYERS
No doubt Fatau Dauda defended Appiah's choice of him over Kwarasey; not to say he is conclusively better than Kwarasey yet; more time to measure that. I won't be surprised if he is crowned MAN-OF-THE-MATCH. He deserves it after the brilliant saves, timing and command of the post. An advice to him is not to be carried over by this performance in rating himself the finest; more work to be than.
ATSU was targed by the opponnents as dangerous owing to his performance in the Ghana-Niger match. He was marked properly and barely given space, sometimes forced to lose balls. That is the power of watching carefully the video of your opponents game and cooking a solution for them if they chose to use the same set of players.
ASAMOAH GYAN as always was average. He played more of a play-maker role than a striker. I think he needs some pep talks on the urgency of getting goals being paramount over display of skills as it is the measure of a win for teams. His fetching the penalty for Ghana was a great judgment. He could have strongly woven himself past the defender as he did in the world cup against USA and scored but he did what professionals do.
AGYEMAN BADU was above average but played more attacking than occasionally falling back to help hold the midfield and as a result Rabiu was over burdened with the stout and fast paced Cape Verdeans.
KOJO ASAMOAH as always was himself and did what has to be done. Helped Afful occasionally when the going got tough.
AFFUL was great with intercepting balls but on few occasions gave the ball away. Being yellow-carded at a point calmed and tamed him a little.
VORSAH was without doubt a pillar that held the defence in check with him benefitting from his height tremendously against the tall and strong opponents.
BOYE just as Vorsah handled his role pretty well except for the periodic over working leashed on him by Paintsil's disturbing leakages at some points.
SOLOMON ASANTE clearly showcased how when given more play time could cause surprises. His excellent faking to shoot but giving a pass to WAKASO was just great!
ADOMAH, another progressive talent today held on to ball for too long at some points. I don't blame him, his threat of being one who sharply sets up goals with swift passes was committed to memory by the opponents and as a result did not give him room to operate.
In all, I think Appiah has a lot to add, change and perfect if Ghana should be playing come February 10th in the finals.
Since with soccer, a win is measured by the number of goals you scored, I say WELL DONE GUYS! WE WISH YOU ALL AND THE TECHNICAL TEAM THE BEST.

@Vorsah nearly caused havoc infront of our goal area [What a heck was he doing to protect the ball for Dauda. [Coach Appiah has to work on him]
@Asamoah Gyan was sluggish upfront and needs to wake up from his slumber.[ Try Clottey too, especially getting latter stages of the game.Thank God it was Wakaso who got the chance to score, Had it been Gyan i don't know what would have happened.

PANTSIL- He is too old for dis tournament. Can the coach pls cut him loose so he can go see his grandkids
GYAN- as usual. need 100 chances to score 1 goal. but we dont hav strikers so he keeper
ATSU - The kid got potential but seems very inconsistent to the say the least. Nt sure where he belongs and bit indecisive. he ratha spend time displaying his skillful ability on the pitch then pushing the ball forward. Sit him down and let him come in second half to display those skills to burn the clock after we up
ASANTE- The kid needs to start. he is a keeper
WAKASO- The kid got great potential but needs to strike while its hot. The kid reaction time is too slow. needs to be quick but def a keeper n needs to start
VORSAH, BOYE, AFFUL- consistent bunch so far. they need help from da midfield tho.
KWADWO ASAMOAH - Kid been MIA so far. He seems to be cautions so he doesnt pick an injury. the kid ratha honor his club Juventus, than Ghana. but his experience needed for the finals.
DEREK ASAMOAH -this kid gotta start cos he is the only defennsive mildfielder we got to help the backcourt. Additionally, he helped stabilize the midfield n the team as a whole. he however need more playing time to keep his flow.
DAUDA- I offer my sincere apology to this kid for continuously undermining him thruout this tournament. this kid reminds me of the greatest ghana goalie ever, Robert Mensah.
KWASI APPIAH - worst tactician ever but at least he is a local coach. if he makes these changes, THE AFRICAN CUP WILL BE BACK HOME 30+ YEARS OF MISSING.

This Wakaso shots the penalty unlike good old Aggrey Fynn, Addo Odamettey, Abdul Rasak, Opoku Afriyie, Mohammed Polo, Osei Kofi and of course the hazardous Asamoah Gyan. He may have a GPS device embeded in his brain so he needs not care where the goalposts are. His confidence is skyhigh. In the penalty against Cape Verde, he shot through the middle with slower shot, allowing enough time for the goalie to move from the center. Good technique indeed. Wakaso is the wizard of the penalty shot so far.

Now they seem to be playing with no incentive nor killer instinct with exception of Dauda and Wakaso the Man. The former sport director Ohene Djan would not make public comments on bonuses during a tournament. The players play for Ghana the motherland with Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah watching closely. There players like Mfum, Osei Kofi, Baba Yara, Edward Acquah, Abukari Gariba and Addo Odamettey who would rather die than lose a game and who do not talk in vain to the media but back their words with real action. Those days when the Black Stars play, their ball possession was 90 to 10. Pure amazement. The formation was 2-3-5 as the circus bribblers Baba Yara, Aggrey Fynn, Addo Odamettey, Osei Kofi, Ofei Dodoo, Ben Kusi, Kwame Adarkwa, Yaw Sam, Oliver Acquah control the midfield and cover areas in and around the center circle. Ball control, body swerves,pretending to have the ball and having players running after you for nothing(Osei Kofi), Mono-leg bribbling ( Polo),dribbling a defender by making a circle through his legs(Adarkwa), dribbling the ball along the touchline with speed finese with change of direction such that players of the other team collide in total disarray .....were tools used by the Black Stars of old to mesmerise Africa and the world. Of course the ball eventually gets to the unfailing goalscorers Edward Acquah, Mfum, Kofi Pare, Abukari, Gyamfi, Anas, Abekah Ankrah, Osumanu Orlando, George Alhassan,..... These skills must be re-invented so that the Black Stars will win again with style.

The second half was a nightmare on the part of the BS. The midfield was broken down and Rabiu Mohammed was the culprit. He created so many fouls around the penalty box and even went his opponents 18? to also create a foul..What is this? We were even scared he is going to attract red card to let the BS down. Now if you created foul around the penalty box for free kicks to awarded against you..What do you expert? Pressure and that was what we were experiencing. When you watch this guy/s play you will realize that he is either heckling some body or diving or sliding recklessly to crash into an opponent to get foul. All these creates problems at the midfield. Coach Appiah must replace him with Annan or Wakaso at 6 position.
@ Another area coach Appiah must work on is communication at the defense. Our defense is now good but sometimes lacks communication.There were some lapses on the part of Vorsah which needs to be corrected.[What a heck were you doing to protect the ball for Dauda? Loosing concentration?]
@Clinical finish is what Gyan needs but he is sluggish upfront now a days. Sometimes the coach has to substitute him with either Yiadom Boakyi [now fit] or Clottey to justify coach his principle of players competition in team to wake up Gyan from his slumber. Thank God the chance fell on the part of Wakaso to score the second goal. Had this chance fell on Gyan’s path, i don’t know what would have happened.
@Another area Coach Appiah has to work on is the cohesion of the team which used to be the hall mark of the BS. Yesterday there were gargantuan faulty passes on the part of the BS, OMG me and you faulty passes..simple passes they can not co ordinate to each other? This all happened at the midfield and upfront too. I wish to state it was individual brilliance and experience which helped the BS out.
Anyway, congratulations for winning the match and that alone should serve as a motivation to go into the next match with your winning mentality. I would like also to encourage fans and all on sundry to rally behind the BS to march to victory.

For many Ghanaians, especially the lay football fans, Ghana has won so nothing bothers them.Whether about 80% of the second half was played in the half of the Blackstars is not of concern to them. Or whether the Blackstars received most of the caution or infringement was of no concern to them.But I want to say that is just a matter of time for the Blackstars to be exposed of their bankrupt tactical deficiency.
The whole of Ghana is only waiting for the Blackstars to be kicked out of the compitition to start the blame game. But I am an advocate of ''prevention is better than cure'' or more seriously a proactive person than a reactive person so I will say it now.
Ghana is believed to belong to the so called football nations but played Cape Verde which was not known in football in Africa under serious suffocation on the part of the Blackstars.
Watching the first match against DR Congo I saw that the Blackstars was not a cup winning team going into this competition. Ubfortunately, those sports journalists and other Ghanaians who have been blinded by patriotism want us to believe that the performance of the Blackstars was ok.Very soon the wheat will be seperated from the chaff, whether we like it or not because the competition has entered the knock-out stage.
Our game has been characterised by erratic passing and shooting if any,indescent tackling so we usually receive lots of caution,poor technical and tactical play so we are wasteful and jittery against our opponents.
Chelsea F.C of London won the EUFA cup during the 2011/12 football season but it was agreed by football analysts that it was based on luck. Cape Verde should have been winners of the quarter final clash with Ghana but it was the opposite because of luck on the part of Ghana.
Ghana is now living on past glories and that is the reason the last AFCON we won is several years back.
The truth is we are not yet there and those countries known as minnows are doing better than some of the so called giants like Ghana.
