DUTCH football legend, Ruud Gullit, believes the Super Eagles are as good as winning the 2013 Africa Nations Cup following a spectacular performance on Wednesday when Nigeria beat Mali 4-1 in the first semi-final of Afcon 2013.

To him, the turning point for Nigeria was the win over the highly-rated Ivory Coast team which Nigeria beat 2-1 in the quarter final.

‘’I think the Nigerian football is the best on display.They have a strong and clever way to get the ball behind their opponents especially with Mikel dictating the direction where the passes go,’’ Gullit told Supersport.

He gave credit to Stephen Keshi’s tactical options.

‘’Against Ivory Coast, everybody thought the Eagles were coming to defend but they came for attacking play and it paid off. With that mindset, they came to hurt the Malians’’.

The subject of ‘juju’ seems not to be far away from the Black Stars camp anytime they come crushing out of major tournaments ala the AFCON 2012 in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea, where then Ghana Coach, Goran Stevanovic ‘Plavi’ came out to confirm the use of ‘black magic’ by some of his charges in camp.

This time though in South Africa, it seems the ‘culprit’ was outside who managed to sneak past security to the Ghana dressing room and was on the verge of sprinkling the concoction to do the ‘damage’ when he was allegedly caught and handed over to Tony Baffoe.

Speaking on the issue, Black Stars team manager, Sabahn Quaye, who himself is no shrinking violet when it comes to matters of that nature says he believes the yet to be identified person cast a spell on the Ghana team, leading to the loss against the Burkina Faso during the semi final clash.

Former Hearts of Oak stalwart, Sabahn says he believes in the existence of juju so as he put it, “anything could have happened.”

He says investigations are ongoing but he will do his possible best to get to the bottom of the matter.

“My friend, I have been in football for so many years so such things cannot be swept under the carpet. How that intruder managed to breach past security to get into our dressing room is a mystery. I will contact Tony Baffoe myself to sort things out,” he said.

The same mistake happened in 2008 afcon when we where eliminated by Cameroon,playing Essein at the central back.I think Kwasi Appiah doesn't take's advice hence the GFA have to assess the whole issue to find solution this problem or we can not make it to Brazil or we will get there to disgrace ourselves.I like how Akwasi Appiah has called in new talented players I think he can biuld a good team by bringing in new talented players including the Ayew brothers,but the Technical bench needs review.

There are absolutely nothing wrong with the players. The quality is there for all to see, Atsu, Kwaraso,Boye, Rabui A. Badu, Dauda, K. Asamoah, Vorsah, these are all top players that will get into the teams of any team that played in the tournament, so why should they fail so abysmally against C.Verde and Burkina Faso? It can only be down to the naivety of the coach, he lack technical proficiency, the lacks the ability no analyse the opposition and adopt a play pattern to outwit them. He is very diplomatic and I admire him for that but as a coach at this level? He is not there yet. We cannot take him to Brazil. Either we go back for Dessailey and convince him to take up the post or forget Brazil 2014.

Like the Burkinabes, the Eagles of Nigeria got to the final due to aggressive football and that's what they, Nigerians call ''AGIDI''.

You may be living a life dreaming to have the guts to criticise the aggresive style of football other countries have adapted.

In modern football,you need to be agrssive in both mid-field and attack,which The Stars unfortunately lack.

Watch aggressive football come sunday, between Burkina and Nigeria as my earnest wish is that the AFCON officials rescind their decision over the dubious and controversial red card shown Pitroipa.

Pitroipa's red card was robbery at the highest level and i wish the referee gets punished for that.

Mr. Raymond Yeboah, you are not perfect yourself so why do you want someone to loose his job? Changing Afful to the right full-back was the right thing to do as you indicated it wasn't.

The mistake Appiah made was the fact that he didn't bring Kissi Boateng to the left full-back position when he switched Harrison Afful to the right full-back position. Instead, he brought Solomon Asante to play in front of Kwedwo Asamoah whilst he dropped Kwewdo Asamoah from the left wing to the left full-back. Therefore, Mr. Yeboah, get it right. You are not perfect too so please leave the coach alone.

Raymond Yeboah has nothing developing in mind. Everything dismantling what he goes for. How can we build a quality team when we keep on sacking our coaches after every tournament? Appiah is a new and up-coming coach. If we refuse to give him the chance he needs to advance in gaining experience, where do we want him to go for that?

We have to make a mistake to gain an experience and that is what he is doing. We all knew he wasn't an experienced coach and we hired him. Now he has gained a little experience, we want to waste that by letting him go? Does that make sense at all?

Here are some important questions we will need to answer before we can consider his pink letter.

1. Do we have time for a new coach to come in to recruit the players afresh? Remember, "New King, New Law."

2. How long did it take for us to hire him when we let Plavi go? At least, it will take us three more months to get another coach to take over, where as the WC qualifying matches will soon resume next month.

3. Are we considering his salary as one of the cheapest we have contracted for in a long time?

4. Who else do those who want the coach to be replaced have in mind?

5. Are the players going to die for this new coach like they are doing for Kwasi Appiah at the moment?

For these 5 questions, I have no answers to them. Can Raymond Yeboah answer them for us? I don't think so because the man has nothing good to say.

Look, all I can say is let us reason well on this issue because firing him wouldn't benefit the country and the team. He just need few classes on how and when to substitution, whom and where, I mean the positions, to substitute to suit the team for good results.

We have the players already and as soon as the coach picks up these few knowledge on the beautiful game we love so much, the country would be set to lift up the trophy that has been eluded us for this long.

Therefore, Mr. Raymond Yeboah, with all your knowledge of the spot, you still lack further knowledge on how to build and develop a team. So go back to the drawing board for you are not perfect yourself.

Back to your article.. I believe we should take such an approach. Kwesi Appiah should file a report on the tournament and present it to the authorities. The tournament should be critically analysed and amendments made. This attitude of sacking coaches and laying blames will not help anybody. Make a list of demands for taking Ghana soccer forward. Then based on these, select a local coach who can fulfil them. Now, who are these authorities..??? Yes, Kwesi Appiah made some decisions that were different to the norm. The norm that has ruled the Ghanaian soccer for the last three decades that you mention about that we haven’t won the cup. If memory serves me right, the last time Ghana won the cup was when an untried and untested squad was quickly assembled. Abedi Sampson Lamptey and co, right? So what wrong has Kwesi Appiah done in taking this approach? Yes he failed but he failed trying his best to his ability and resources. Remember that we have all been happy by the way the authorities groomed Kwesia Appiah. Maybe it shouldn’t have been Kwasia appiah, whom then? It’s the training and the resources that was offered or made available to him that is made him the coach he is today. Whether bad or good! In this light also, we need to have a sit and think; about the future of the game in the country and how best to prepare our traditional local heroes who have used all their youth and energy in putting Ghana on the football map. Whether locally or internationally, I do understand that in as much as some people choose to be teachers or doctors or soldiers or police personnel, as a job to earn bread, so also are professional sports players. But it must never be forgotten that these jobs create other jobs and make the lives of all other professional interesting and recreational. They perform feats that awe and amuse us!
As far as I am concern the only thing that separates a good national side from a bad national ide is the attitude and the passion. This is what we must look for in our players and our coaches. The rest will follow.

I strongly believe that, Kwasi Appiah lacks critical coaching technicality regarding which players should be pared and when to change and bring in an effective individual player.

First, Kwadwo Asamoah is very effective with his Juventus Club as a midfield offensive player. As a Ghanaian, I feel proud watching him play with such calibrate effect. Why should Kwasi Appiah gamble with such a player to play defense? Kwadwo Asamoah seemed like a ghost who does not exist in our games.
Further I wonder why Coach Appiah relied solely of Gyan as a striker? Whilst I like Gyan in the team, I believe that Gyan should be pared with another striker in all our games. This way, as Gyan is always double teamed by opponents, another striker could take advantage of the space as a result. Playing Gyan as a lone striker, it becomes easy for defenders to double team and get him crippled. Gyan has demonstrated over the years that he is not a slick striker. The Coach should know that. I am not a professional coach, yet I known that about Gyan. Black Stars should never play a lone striker game, the result is what we see in our matches, single goals, and then rely on luck to get awarded with a penalty kick.
Watch Alan Ferguson and Manchester United, in all games he paired two and three strikers. all out in all games, with the poise to score goals; consequently, Manchester United is hard to beat. They concede goals and are able to score more than they concede in most of their games. Can coach Appiah learn from that?. We only have three stikers' in the entire team. Why? We should include at least four strikers in the Black Stars, this way we could pair two and or three strikers per game and have one on the bench to substitute as necessary. Number, 9, 10 and 8 should be all poised goal pochers'. Then 7 and 11 as flankers could pose goal treats. In this manner, our midfield players are all poised and able to net in goals.
If Coach Appiah cannot formulate such effective team. Then we are in deep trouble to be recognized as a serious football contenders in Africa and the world as a whole.

Also I seriously think that we need at least Andre Ayew in our team. He's not only a motivator, but a goal netter and very hard working.

When Wakasu was substituted the game was played for about 40 minutes extra before the penalty kicks commenced.Let me remind the writer that good penalty kickers like the great Zico who played over 1000 penalties without a miss finally missed one during the 1986 world cup tournament when Brazil played against France. In addition Roberto Baggio an expert penalty kicker also missed a penalty in the 1994 world-cup so it is possible that Wakasu would have also missed his penalty if he had stayed. Wakasu was a mere passenger in the game until he was substituted and at that time the Burkina-bees were playing with 10 men as against 11 on the Ghana side. The best option at that time was Ghana to have gone in for the kill by bringing in an attacker and that is exactly what the coach did. Ghanians should know that until the country is united nothing better will be achieved in this country. The country is fraught with corruption everywhere including even in our football circles and politics. If you don't go to heaven don't blame Jesus Christ but yourself, similarly if you don't win cup don't blame Akwasi Appiah but john Mahama greedy bastards.

A good coaching tactics will seen in free kicks-like indirect kicks, corner kicks, penalty kicks. Ghana continues to show that we are tactically bankrupt . We must also know how to convert chances into goals. I am surprise that coach James akwasi Appiah named Skipper Asamoah as the best striker. No at all. If I was a coach I will rather use Asamoah Gyan as my schemer or maestro and take the pressure off him. Asamoah Gyan plays well and scores when he is happy and not under pressure. I believe that Ghana is the soccer nation on earth. Football they is football -it maybe unpredictable, this kind of listlessness and third place honor is unacceptable. Well Burkina Faso! We were just unlucky as penalties can go both ways. I think we should not blame Appiah too much as getting to semifinal is not a bad achievement for a coach's first tournament with a bunch of new players in the National team. Of course he aimed to get to the finals and hoped to bring home the cup but unfortunately that did not happen and we are all disappointed.

And as Coach,how in hell a defender was injured and instead of bringing a defender like Johnatan Mensah for Penstil, you went ahead brought in an attacker and stationed K. Asamoah to left full back, automatically you have shorten the strength of the mid-fielders and the attackers and this will worn the defenders. And Kwesi, my piece of advice to you is to step down and go back to the Coaching Course again.
