DUTCH football legend, Ruud Gullit, believes the Super Eagles are as good as winning the 2013 Africa Nations Cup following a spectacular performance on Wednesday when Nigeria beat Mali 4-1 in the first semi-final of Afcon 2013.

To him, the turning point for Nigeria was the win over the highly-rated Ivory Coast team which Nigeria beat 2-1 in the quarter final.

‘’I think the Nigerian football is the best on display.They have a strong and clever way to get the ball behind their opponents especially with Mikel dictating the direction where the passes go,’’ Gullit told Supersport.

He gave credit to Stephen Keshi’s tactical options.

‘’Against Ivory Coast, everybody thought the Eagles were coming to defend but they came for attacking play and it paid off. With that mindset, they came to hurt the Malians’’.

Akwasi Appiah is just a copy-n-paste coach. He keeps using the same formation Milo and Plavi used, working or not. He saw Kwadwo Asamoah being used in defense in Juventus and there he goes, Asamoah in defence while our midfield is leaking like a faucet. Meanwhile we have true defenders on the bench. When we needed goal in the semis, what did he do? He deflated our midfield even more by taking Asamoah back to defense, knowing (or did he know, I doubt it) that Asamoah failed to perform when used in defence (remember the Congo game?). Hell, Kwadwo Asamoah looked so confused on the pitch, apparently trying to decide what it was that Appiah wanted him to do. AA just wishes a win, rather than designing a winning strategy!

PS:

What the hell is this lone striker formation that we keep using? It does not work, fool! Stop being so helpless and do something when the game is not going well for us; effect a change. Otherwise, give way for a real coach. This is Ghana we are talking about here; we have talent in abundance....

I can even dare say that the referee was on Ghana's side but the boys could just not deliver. Come to think of three players missing penalties. During training aren't they thought to play penalty shootouts? This is degrading of us!! I am so disapointed. And don't even say third place is good enough. We are way past that. As a matter of fact,our players should portray decency and professionalism on the field of play.They represent our nation and all ghanaians and they should quit those ugly hair-styles,they should be conservative and curve a better image for ghanaians.I like Wakaso for his aggressiveness and style of play but I sincerely advise him to represent Ghana with a much better and groomed hair cut.Dede Ayew at the WORLD CUP was well groomed and good looking.Referees do admire well-behaved and perfectly groomed players.Since our little kids are watching them as role models the players should not reveal anything which will cast insinuation in the minds of people about their level of professionalism.The stars have failed us but we should exercise restraint and accommodate and encourage them to do better,qualify for the World Cup and the AFCON 2014.We can make a better decision after Appiah has been given enough time to justify himself as capable of handling the national team.The stars have done fairly well but I sincerely and respectfully take off my hat before DAUDA,KWADJO ASAMOAH,WAKASSO and AGYEMANG BADU for playing their hearts out.Great job done guys! Someplayers showed individual briliance, eg Dauda Mohammed who in actual fact carried us through the quarter finals to the semi finals. Christian Atsu was extremely good, Agyemang Badu started well but a kind of faded out in the last two matches, Isaac Vorsah did well, Kwadwo Asamoah did well considering the way the coach was tossing him from position to position.Harrison Afful was really good as well. Paintsil did well too. The team has no strikers- I mean clinical finishers. Asamoah Djan is a captain with the arm band an that is all. I hope Boakye Yiadom, Majeed or Jordan Ayew develops into what MODERN STRIKERS are and what Ghana needs to make proper impact on big stages. We can't qualify for the world cup with this kind of about-good team. I stand for correction though. Appiah should up-grade himself technically, since his technical ability is questionable at the moment

Get rid of Asamoah Gyan - he is a useless striker, does not score goals and is afraid to take penalties or misses crucial penalties - he is not consistent, reliable and plays in a sub standard league. If Gyan was working in the West on a project as Project Manager, he will be fired for not delivering good results, simple. Appiah is making stupid excuses. He has been paid to do a job, but he is not up to the task. There should be no training on the job. Please show him the exit and get a better coach.
