The subject of ‘juju’ seems not to be far away from the Black Stars camp anytime they come crushing out of major tournaments ala the AFCON 2012 in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea, where then Ghana Coach, Goran Stevanovic ‘Plavi’ came out to confirm the use of ‘black magic’ by some of his charges in camp.

This time though in South Africa, it seems the ‘culprit’ was outside who managed to sneak past security to the Ghana dressing room and was on the verge of sprinkling the concoction to do the ‘damage’ when he was allegedly caught and handed over to Tony Baffoe.

Speaking on the issue, Black Stars team manager, Sabahn Quaye, who himself is no shrinking violet when it comes to matters of that nature says he believes the yet to be identified person cast a spell on the Ghana team, leading to the loss against the Burkina Faso during the semi final clash.

Former Hearts of Oak stalwart, Sabahn says he believes in the existence of juju so as he put it, “anything could have happened.”

He says investigations are ongoing but he will do his possible best to get to the bottom of the matter.

“My friend, I have been in football for so many years so such things cannot be swept under the carpet. How that intruder managed to breach past security to get into our dressing room is a mystery. I will contact Tony Baffoe myself to sort things out,” he said.

The Confederation of African Football has selected five members of the Super Eagles for the Best Eleven after Nigeria defeated Burkina Faso 1-0 on Sunday to lift the Nations Cup title for the third time.

Goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama, defender Efe Ambrose, midfielder Mikel Obi and forwards Victor Moses and Emmanuel Emenike were selected to complete a team which also has Cape Verde Island’s Nando Maria Neves, Mali’s Seydou Keita, Burkina Faso’s Jonathan Pitroipa, Ghana’s Asamoah Gyan and Ivory Coast’s Arouna Koné and Siaka Tiéné.

Emenike, who won the Top Scorer award with four goals, was elated after the victory despite not playing in the final game due to injury.

He said, “Even though I did not play, I felt the pressure as if I was on the pitch. Starting from the beginning, Nigerians didn’t believe in us but I thank God today that we’re the champions. I’m so excited right now. I just want Nigerians to give us more time to get stronger.”

This Nigeria team will go far for the way they play. It is a team that plays with heart and refuse to give up even when things are not going on well for them. In the group match, they led Burkina Faso and later Burkina came back and drew that match. Nigeria didn't give up there. The went ahead and led Zambia during their encounter and this one too, Zambia came back and drew with them. This Nigeria team moved on and beat Ethiopia to get to the quarters. That was when they began to play team work and took over the tournament as real champions.

They will go places and it is good to have them back in contention. This will allow the Africa continent to have strong teams going into the WC. At least, Nigeria will go as the African Champions whilst the rest of the teams will follow. I like it that way because Ghana is already known as one of the African best although nothing shows that when we are in the continent. When Ghana is outside the continent, that is when we display. They already know us when it comes to the WC tournaments. We need four more strong teams to join us show off on the WC platform, and it seems, Nigeria has shown it self approved to be one of them.

Therefore, I say, congratulations to the Nigeria national team, and the Nigeria citizens who didn't give up on their team but rallied behind their through think and thin for such a wonderful victory.

Most foreign based players feel too big to play. Look at Asamoah Gyan that went to Arab country for the sake of money. Now he has the money but he is not fit enough. Not as sharp as those days. I am a Ghanaian, but I must be proud of Nigeria today. They showed character in play. Beat opponents convincingly; e.g. Mali, Ivory Coast, and Boukina F. What amazes me is that while they were leading, they played as if they were behind, and they should have beaten the Stallions by four clear GOALS even without the help of the referee. BF played well, but the Super Eagles were too good. (4-1 to Nigeria would have been a better reflection). I am being objective here. I looks like they played 4-3-3 formation. Talent, Tactic, Teamwork, Dedication Discipline,and exceptional Leadership brought victory. A victory well-deserved.
Again, well-done NGA, and commiserations, GHA, and especially BF.

A foreign coach you are selected on basis of MERIT and not because a coach's agenda of proving to people that local players can do the job.Coach this is not some experiment- same happened to Cappello(even a top coach). Thing is you need a collective of players that you need to keep and nuture for a long time . the last time i checked fifa website, tournaments section i went way back in the 90's and i saw sergio ramos, iniessta, cassilas, pique - i mean all the current spain clique.i say gather all the u20 players who won the cup in egypt and groom them. i will include atsu and reluctanlty wakaso. if this Appiah is not got rid of i fear for Ghana Football.All comments are welcomed

Ghana started the Hip life scene with Reggie Rockstone rapping in Twi........Nigerians also copied that from us.
Our problem is that we are always singing in Twi, whilst the Nigerians sing in English and therefore appeal to a wider audience. By the time the Ghanaian musicians realised that, it was too late.
Also the Nigerians invest money to make sure their productions reach Europe and abroad. Ghanaians do not do that.
Ghanaians started OBE in the UK, but now the Nigerian channels have taken over.

We always start these things but do not finish well. But We Ghanaians always like to look down on ourselves!
