He has a point but as usual it comes down to money. The younger guys are going to jump at the first chance to go abroad. If everyone stayed in the local league and then participated with the Satellites and Starlets in friendlies and tournaments then a confident team could be built. However, it is all about money. Most are not going to stay local just to help develop the youth program. A good 18 year old player might even prefer to go to the USA for a soccer scholarship.

Ghana FA is no more interested in Afcon cup, afcon is no longer attractive, in a society where one person has perpetuated himself in office and will not allow young dynamic fresh minds to take over the running of the confederation, a tournament that is not synchronised with europe where majority of the players come from, it makes no sense, over years some top notch key players decline to play in afcon because they cannot afford to substitute their juicy positions in their foreign clubs, infact in some cases,just as a player start gaining first team plays in europe he has to give away that position cos of afcon, can you imargin a caf congress where the pesident stand unopposed, it ridiculus, a tournament where you spend more and gain less, its boring, what im trying to say is that tournament is no more attracttive and glamorous, serious countries like ivory coast and ghana dont see the need to win it bcos it is low esteemed,ghana's pedegree is too high to win cheap afcon, afcon is only good for rehearsal to prepare a team for world cup, its funny
