The undisputed boxing heavyweight champion of the world, Lennox Lewis plans to establish a company in Ghana. The company to be known as the Lennox Lewis Garments factory, will be established in conjunction with FUBU, the American sportswear manufacturer. FUBU sponsors the kits for Lennox Lewis.

The factory will manufacture garments for the local as well as the international market. Lennox Lewis’ promoter, Don King, announced the British boxer’s intentions when they called on President Kufuor at the OSU Castle. The two men are in the country for what Lewis’ describes as a ‘cooling off’ trip. Lewis came to Ghana with a 40-member delegation, which includes business executives who wish to explore business opportunities in agro-industry.

Don King said at the meeting with President Kufuor that it is important for Ghana to find a way of adding value to its resources for export. He urged the government not to relent in its efforts at developing the talents of young people since the future of the country depends on them. The boxing promoter described President Kufuor as a dynamic person and the appropriate choice for the people of Ghana. According to him, the leadership role of the President within the relatively short period that he has been in office is appreciable. On his part, Lennox Lewis expressed happiness for being in Ghana again.

Responding, President Kufuor said Ghana is proud to host such personalities who have distinguished themselves in their professions. He said as a Blackman and a man of African descent Lewis is likely to trace his ancestral home to Ghana.
