I will say that with the players we have now, there is some sort of 'harmony' on the team. Players, like Kevin Prince Boateng are opportunists. We don't need him. Jordan Ayew is not quite Black Star material yet. His brother's attitude stinks and will be disruptive to the team. Essien has had too many injuries playing for Ghana. Let's leave him alone.

So why do we let people who do not know anything about football impose players on the team? This is one of the reasons why some people advocated for a foreign coach. A coach who can stand up to 'outside forces'. Can our coach for once 'stand up and be counted' (as a strong coach)?

This is not about local or foreign coach the GFA and John Mahama would have done the same thing. These nonsense has to stop and Akwesi Appiah would do a better job by not calling these players so we can have a show down with John Mahama if he thinks these one of appointment too. This guy should be one term President look at Ghana now we are going backwards, all his major appointments are all Northerns and he want to hide behind Black Star going to World Cup.

Essien is a first class player, and his level of play, skills and experience would ideally make his membership in the Ghana team a great asset for Ghana’s prospects of going far in the world cup. But psychologically, he is actually not a good fit for Ghana now. The casualties (e.g. injuries) which he suffered on some occasions when playing for Ghana have affected his psychology (e.g. perceptions and attitudes) about Ghana. The injuries nearly ended his football career, and I think this scared him a lot. He has not yet overcome this fear, and this largely accounts for the difficulty he is having in his decision for Ghana. Also, psychologically, he most likely feels that he did not get a satisfactory support from Ghana in his time of struggle (when dealing with his injury), and this probably has made him to adopt a cautious attitude towards Ghana. Given that he has not completely overcome his negative psychological perceptions about Ghana, he would not be in good psychological mood to give his best for Ghana, even if he succumbs to pressure to end his retirement and join the team. He will not be able to fully commit to Ghana!

To solve all this problem..GFA should publish GUIDELINES for playing in the national team. As such, players would know what is acceptable and not acceptable if you want to play in the national team....With publish guidelines, gfa will not have to deal with players on individual basis.. if one's conduct is not in compliance with the guidelines , you are let go...irrespective of your caibre..thre will be harmony in the camp when such guidelines are publish.. mahama or rawlings cannot call and ask his nephew to be considered..if his behavior contravenes guidelines everyone is aware of
