Sulley Muntari has escaped heavy punishment for his unruly reaction to his substitution in Ghana’s 2-0 win over Lesotho in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.

The AC Milan star reacted angrily to his substitution in the second half of the game in Maseru and refused to sit on the bench as he headed straight into the dressing room.

The 28-year-old who is currently one of the senior players in the Black Stars is reported to have apologised to the technical team for his unruly behaviour after the game.

Many, however, believe the former Inter Milan ace ought to be handed severe punishment to serve as deterrent for such future acts.

But Ghana coach Akwasi Appiah says Muntari will not be handed any severe punishment following the gross remorse shown after the game.

“Sometimes in the heat of the moment when playing the game, players can react in several ways,” he told Accra-based Asempa FM.

“However, it is the conduct of the player after the game that shows whether the act was deliberate or not.

“And as far as I am concerned, he showed a lot of remorse over his act, and therefore, we need not hand him any heavy punishment as it has the potential to worsen matters.”

Muntari is no stranger to unruly acts with the Ghana national team, but has conducted himself extremely well in recent times.

His latest negative episode thus comes as quite a surprise and a massive disappointment to his numerous fans.

Question:

Is the publicity of holding a stick over the head of a professional player, who is sacrificing his time, and body for our beloved Great Ghana motivating? Emphatically, NO!

Would the publicity prompt the desirable conduct? Of course, NO!

Granted, Muntari responded unprofessionally, but this does not make it correct for the GFA to forget that he is an adult who does not need a stick held over his head.

The GFA boss stated that Muntari has not yet apologized for his conduct.

This is deplorable. However, as deplorable as this may sound; I believe the onus lies with the Coach to reach out to the player, thaw the freeze, and defuse the tension.

It is only when the coach, and the player can talk, and laugh over the unfortunate attitude; then the GFA can move to the next step of discouraging the uncharitable conduct.

The GFA can punish Muntari and also solicit the appropriate conduct among the players, by limiting it decision to only the key players of the Ghana Black Stars.

The time has come for us to start treating each other with respect.
We are all Ghanaians, and we are in this nation-building task together.
If we cannot treat each other with patience, understanding, and respect; we must not expect any foreigner to treat us better.

May Lord Almighty continue to bless our beloved Great Ghana: Amen!!!

None of you is a perfect human being.
The tandem accolade can,t be measured by any yard stick. As a boss,i will investigate more into this case before i react negatively. These players should be made to know that they're representatives of our youth playing the role of role-models to all Ghanaian children watching them play both home and abroad. They're,therefore, expected to display a very high standard of conduct, both on the field and outside the field. Besides, they should be made aware that no single player is indespensable
It'll only be fitting to put an end to the recent spate of player-misbehaviour, by dissmissing a player for good from hence.

If coach Appiah cannot maintain discipline in the Black Star camp then he is not fit for the JOB!

Now the problem of Nyantakyi is interference in the coach's JOB he should take his ugly nose out of it!!

If I were in administration of the Black Stars our goals will be the following for the next few months. Let me see how many can think outside the BOX!!

1. Qualify.
Use the willing players, skills and talents AVAILABLE and make sure we finish Zambia!

2. Temporarily dissolve the team and ask the players to justify their inclusion in the Ghana squad for Brazil find new talent too!!!

3. Chose the best of the lot and mould them for the task in Brazil.

4. Dismiss all the trouble makers. Ghana is a nation no one is bigger than the nation.

Win or loose Ghana will still be here after the world Cup!
