Did the AMA not tell the whole world the structure is in Accra and therefore it owns it and has the right to change the nationally recognized name of "OHENE DJAN STADIUM" to ACCRA SPOORTS STADIUM because he, Ohene Djan was not a Ga? Let the AMA fix it with their resources and ban the rest of the world from entering it, after all that is what the Gas are preaching these days about everything in the capital to which they contributed only the land. ONLY THE LAND. And mind you, the Government has appropriated much more bigger parcels of land in other areas of Ghana. What about the Forest Reserves and other Government structures and ownership of lands outside Accra? Go figure. LET THE GAS FIX THE STADIUM AND KEEP IT FOR GOOD!!!

This is a cue to stay clear of the Chinese as they have no clue about the type/treatment of tropical materials to use in constructing structures near the Atlantic ocean. Alternatively, cheap materials were used as has been the bane of constructed structures in Ghana over the past few decades.

The culture of non-maintenance of structures in Ghana must also cease.

It's both shoddy job done and the use of inferior materials. If you built close to the sea, all your reinforcing bars aka iron rods should epoxy coated (none corrosive). You also need a clearance of about half to one inch to serve as concrete covering for a wall. If you used non corrosive rebars, they'll start rusting gradually from the very first day. Our local engineers know better and should not have allowed these to happen. Now that the harm has already been done, they have to plunge into immediate repair work before it collapses. A simple thing they can do is to expose the rust by chipping the surface till they don't find anymore, sandblast the rusts, splice the affected bars and cover them with non shrink cement or a high strength concrete with at least 4000 pounds per square inch. Maintenance is very much needed from now on.

I've seen many of such renovated and the only time they pull such structures down is when they realize the cost involved in repair will be more than a new one. The foundations can easily be fortified with under pinnings and it'll be very solid as rock.

And what I am alluding to is that the time is right under the circumstances as being discussed here with regards to the Stadium's condition for them to step forward and be responsible. When Accra Sports Stadium was named after Ohene Djan, it was for a good reason, that soccer as we know today is largely impart due to his good sense of administration back in the 60's. What did the Gas say at the time? They couldn't accept the change, unless it was a Ga personality. When Kuffuor completed his term of office the office allocation was strenuously challenge, and again some so called Gas vowed he couldn't be allowed to have an office on their so called land. I am a Gold Coaster, and can give you a lot of education on that country, as I can deduce you a young person, but the time has come for you young folks to do a lot of research into a lot of the things you see, and avail yourselves of, or better still take for granted before you start calling other people names. I was born in Accra - Kokompe, what your generation calls Kantamanto, so I am no stranger to Accra, and the Gas. A lot of my friends are Gas, but that doesn't stop me from pointing out their shortcomings to them when the need arises. The same goes for the Ewes, Akans, or the northerners.
