Can anybody tell me that this is the best in our talent pool to be selected for any match, friendly or competitive? Remember this match is an assessment match for the all -important World Cup qualifier against Zambia. This bis the team, period!!!!

The Black Star Group of Africa versus the Turkey national team on the grounds of the stadium of General Mustapha Kemal Ataturk, the hero of the Battle of Galipoli.
Missing in action on the Black Star side are Sulley Muntari, Prince Kevin Boateng, and the Sons of Abedi due to violation of protocol concering re-admission into the team. One other warrior, Baby Jet Gyan will start as a bench-warmer. Kwadwo Asamoah a highly skilled player cast in the guise of Ben Kusi of old, may not play due to injury sustained in the Guiness International Competition? Will he be fit for the Zambian game?
This is just a friendly game before the big game. The coach has to be careful. Do you use this occassion to field your big guns and rehearse the formations, set plays and the Zambian game plan. Maybe and maybe not. Yes and No. In 2002 , just before the World Cup 2002, France, who were the favourites played a warm-up game against Japan.This was a calulated risk that backfired. Their top-striker Zinedine Zidane got injured and could not feature in the first two preliminary games which led to the premature exit for France in the tournament.
So, if may the right for coach Appiah to field a team of this calibre. But where are the 2013 U20 gunfighters and the other local sharpshooters.
The next problem is when will the coach have the chance to consolidate the squad for the Zambian game; discuss the intelligence scout report on the Zambians; practise various formations; rehearse playing with 10 men; work on a variety of shooting techniques ( long range, medium range ,short range);Practise the dreaded penalty shootout;work on effective positive dribbling and get a psychologist to exorcise the haunting spectre of two Zambian defeats from their mind.The players have to go back to their teams and may not be available to the coach until the elenth hour of the winner-takes-all Showdown in Kumasi. Beware of the Zambians.They are always tricky.
Flashback. In 1964 they wanted the Black Star to come and play in their independence day celebrations. In order not to suffer the same brutal independende day fate as Kenya (14-2), nor as Malawi (14-0), nor as Nigeria ( 3-0), the Zambians insisted for Team B , called the New Horizon. Their wish was granted by Ohene Djan and endorsed by Osagyefo( Showboy) Kwame Nkrumah as Kenneth Kaunda was his friend. This game took place on October 24 1964. The real Black Stars were at the Tokyo Olympic games.
The Zambians attacked ferociously with the intent of destroying the myth around the famous Black Stars. In the 11th minute Jack Sewel of Zambia scored. Then around the 21st minute, Samuel Ndhlovu scored. To this point , Zambia 2 Ghana 0. Before the Black Star could think about what was going on, then bang! Emment Kapengwe delivered a bullet shot right into the top corner of the net.To this point, Ghana 0 Zambia 3. The international observers and the Northern Rhodesians (Zambians) could not believe their eyes. Well, well, Ghanaians were wiser. A couple of line changes later, the Team B now has Abukari Gariba, Amusa Gbadamosi, Kwame Adarkwa, Ofei Dodoo and Osei Kofi , all in full battle-gear. From that time, the Zambians could not touch the football. Not for minute. Just not possible. Osei Kofi kicked a spin-controlled ball to Mizziwayo Mkandawire. Just before he could stop the ball, the ball returned to Osei Kofi who passed to Abukari who scored with a carpet shot in the 37th minute. The Amusa Gbadamosi dribbled through a cluster of players and scored in the 43rd minute. Then the Zambians created a fortress around their goalmouth. Mfum the bulldozer was in Tokyo and could not help. The task of equalizing fell to Kwame Adarkwa who dribbled the ball back and forth in a solo manouevre until the Zambians decided to run after him. Then he made a bamboozling turn-around and raced like a jet and delivered a thundering goal-bound shot whilst in full flight in the 82nd minute. To this point, Ghana 3 Zambia 3. Then Ghana's Amusa Gbadamosi got the ball from Ofei Dodoo at the far side of the center circle. The supporting cast of Abukari, Osei Kofi and Adarkwa were following closely. He delivered an impossible angle shot and Ghana rescued the day with a 4-3 victory over the Zambians.

Who is his right mind can say that Agyeman Badu, Solomon Asante, Inkoom etc, are better than the Ayew brothers, KPB, Muntari and Quincy Abeyie? Jokers indeed!!!
