You cannot use the Japan match as a yardstick to criticize the Blackstars. The team scored 18 goals and conceded only 3 in the qualifying games, that is not a leaky defence especially the central defenders like Boye, Vorsah, Jonathan Mensah, Rashid Sumaila and others. We have problems with the left back but Afful is currently doing his best and we should give him the encouragement to succeed.

Armah just want to be part of the team as a technical staff.

Our match today clearly shows we have problems with shooting. If accurate shooting had accompanied our counter-attacks today, we would have won the match.
The problem is not with the defence.

Similarly, the oofensive prowess of a team can be measured by number of goals scored against strong opponents. AA's selection is sound. They need to play together more so they can be as comfortable on the pitch, as a fish can be in water.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the defense. We just didn't played well during the second half of the game. With Essein in the midfield, the defense will be fine with the likes of boye and vorsah.

For instance, we now know that Atsu is not a star and is clearly an off the bench guy. He is skillful but he is not a "lead role" type of player. We know that Asante and Adomah are subs who have their limitations but we knew that already.

You are right. Smart coaches are adaptable. They can choose the right players at any given time, and also pick the right mix of formations to play various teams. At the end of the day, it is the outcome of games played against high caliber opponents that would speak to the strenghth of the team, and the competence of the coach. I believe AA and the current selection of Black Stars have passed all these tests with flying colours. I think Armah is stuck in the past, a period when much of Ghana soccer was not evaluated with strong statistical information. People have to learn how to separate sentimental rhetoric from facts when they talk about the state of Ghanaian soccer and coaching.

I've said it many times before the Zambia encounter that our coaches need to upgrade. It's as simple as that. Some of us, esp. the GFA, are just funny; we tend to think that we're better than anyone in this world. We ain't seen nothing yet! We might not qualify for WC-2014 if we think we're are masters. This defeat is a crazy one. Let's listen to Kwasi Nyantakyi & Co., do the explanation why Ghana lost to Japan. Or are they saying we have to lose some matches to balance our FIFA rankings or some sort? One again, I'd want to appeal to govt., the sports ministry and the GFA, to send our coaches away for serious refresher courses. I also think coach Silas Tetteh should be added to the coaching bench. So far, he's show that he can instruct his team of U-21 to excel in every WC that they've participated. The U-21 always play beautiful football. He has the magic and I believe he should be added to the coaching bench.
