Looking at the short term interest sounds to me like an old Ghanian ideology that we still implementing. If the leaders are still thinking that way, then they will need to be moved on for others who understand the way modern football is to run the GFA

"So we agreed to play the match on September 10 so that it reflects in the FIFA rankings on September 12, and since the draw is on September 15, it would greatly aid our cause in terms of being seeded.”

This man calls himself a lawyer no wonder he is practicing law at GFA.

Some of his comments were spot on but others were not. To me, Christopher opoku is not planning ahead. He wants us to win but does not want the team to have a strong bench.

Playing with our B team is an opportunity for us. In this way, Coach Appiah has an idea of whom to call in the next match and what to do to correct those mistakes. If we were to use our regular players for this friendly, we would not have benefited from it. It is very good the regular players were given the permission to leave.

Another benefit from this match is that when we meet them in the WC, Coach Appiah will know how to handle them because they played with their full squad, whilst we did not. Folks is it for our own good. Remember, the WC groupings usually contains one European team, one African, one Asian, one North American and Caribbean team, one Oceania, one South American. 4 teams in a group. We may never know. Japan may end up in our group. The last time, 2010 WC, Ivory Coast was the African team that ended up with Japan.

We should embrace this defeat and work on sealing our loop holes instead of blaming anyone. We want to progress but we cannot do that with having a weak bench.

I strongly agree with this article. The GFA is making decisions based on short term cash needs at the expense of proper planning to ensure qualification for the World cup. Why should Nyantakyi be so eager fishing for $200,000 or so in appearance fees for a frienly match with Italy at the enhanced risk of non-appearance in Brazil. Why are we always having a plate in hand "begging for alms" instead of making painstaking efforts to realize longer term goals and earnings???

I made a comment before the trip to Japan that there was no way we were going to play to win in Japan.

And only 17 players went on the trip? Are we that insane? We were playing Japan in Yokohama and went with a very weak team who were jet lagged.

Japan has ALREADY qualified for the World Cup and has good players playing for top European teams.

This type of unnecessary friendly games that we are already set up to lose must cease. This is not progress at all.

The GFA and its bunch of corrupt,greedy self-centred so and so`s , clearly do not have the interest of Ghana football at heart and we have all known this for a long time , however we ask politicians to come on national TV to defend their actions and argue their ideas and principles if any , yet Im in football administration in Ghana and do not recollect a single occasion ( i stand to be corrected) where this Nyantakyi guy has been brought to sit on national TV alongside some Chairmen of lower league clubs to face some serious "GRILLING" on some of the sheer misappropriation of Gfa funds and lack of any interest or investment in grassroot football. Its a real shame that J.J Rawlings is not in his youth anymore, personally i think its time that someone in Authority has the guts and "balls" to intervene and if FIFA has to suspend us for a while, we can find the right people in football (there are a few ) to take up this position and save Ghana Football .

I like the quality of your article. Beautiful piece, on point in terms of language, presentation, phrasing and all that. Nice one. I however have the feeling that you sort of missed the cardinal point which is that the GFA needs loads of money for preparations for the WC should we qualify. You see, these big friendlies are the principal source of raising big money for the GFA. With the sort of returned expected form the BS, we need a lot of funding to give the team the best chance of providing the goods on the big state. This does not come cheap With respect to the scheduling of these friendlies, it is very difficult to find convenient gaps in the rather busy schedules of our players most of who play in top European Leagues, to fit the games into. Secondly, the opponents' schedules are also a big influencing factor when it comes to scheduling these friendlies. The GFA cannot dictate to say Italy as to when the game should be played, they have a major say as well and dont forget, we need the money more than they do so they have a slight upper hand in terms of when they want the game palyed. So Mr, dont just take delight in attacking my learned friend Mr Nyantekyi for the sake of it. Now, on the issue of comparison with Nigeria, you failed to consider the fact that they do not need the dollars that are generated from these big friendlies as their oil rich Alajis donate millions of dollars to the NFA without as much as a blink. Nigeria can therefore afford to play Burkina Faso at their convenience, they have that luxury, we dont. Yes, Mr Nyantakyi may make some mistakes and he is only human, he has done so much for the BS since he took over office,so, before you go on a blind tirade against him, please do make sure you are in possession of all the behind closed doors relevant influencing factors as that is what a prudent critique will do. It's sad that Kwesi Nyantakyi cannot see that the GFA would rather become profitable if they improve on the attendance of the local league. Why can't thd GFA improve the local league with better planning, marketing, changes at stadiums to bring back the entertainment that helps make watching football fun?

What is GFA doing on our premiere league? I see more EPL adverts that Ghana local league. What is GFA doing to ensure the stadiums are packed on every game? Let me give GFA a few ideas: high sexy lady stadium attendants, to serve beer, finger foods at stadium. Use mobile adverts in neighbourhoods. Use pregnant show concerts by inviting some. Music stars to do pro bono shows to help promote league. Give free tickets etc. advertise local league star players. Give corporate discounts to purchase bulk tickets etc

GFA must realise that if they fix the attendance of the local league, they will have a huge cash flow that they would not need to be playing such funny games for some money.

To me, if GFA is not up to ghe task, they can put out contracts for interested party to bid and manage our local stadiums for revenue sharing for league games. A word to the wise is enough.
