I know this useless Dubai guy will politicize this event and use tax payers money to sponsor some people and say the better Ghana agenda is on course. How do you guys support a team through government funds? If you can't afford just stay home and watch tv. Government should have nothing to do with this. Use the tax payers money wisely for once.

Government should not use one dime of taxpayers money to send anybody to Brazil. With tickets alone costing close to $1600, every individual sent to Brazil will cost more than $5000 with plane tickets, hotel accomodation and food added.
Ghana at this time cannot afford to sponsor people to go and watch soccer in Brazil. Let those who have the money buy the tickets. No more stupid spending of taxpayers money.

I guess what they are asking for is some form of subsidy. Much as the very idea stinks, we must not forget that the well dressed "Mr I can Afford to pay on my own -aka myself included" will not be the one "shiieeing Jama" to cheer on the players for 90mins. Usually these supporters are the one leading at the Jama front.
We will make some money from our participation so I guess it stands to reason that some cost effective analysis can be made to help some of our perennial local supporters.
I have met a lot of them at games played outside the country and believe me, they BRING value.
Germany for reinstance is building an exclusive camp for their players. Not that Ghana is Germany and perhaps we can use those funds more meaningfully, BUT please let's also think this through - subsidizing may not be money thrown away entirely.

It is a great sadness to read from people who claimed to have this nation, Ghana at heart but asking the already collapsing economy for this huge sum of money for supporters to go and support the team.I know football unite people but a hunger and poverty can never unite a true nation. Why not ask the government to use such amount to better the living conditions of poor Ghanaians rather than to pay for a trip to Brazil? It is time we open our eyes to see what is going on in our country and help build a better nation through better education and job creation for all.

The attitude of these so called Ghanaian supporters on the world cup tickets sums up the mentality of we Ghanaians. These people will not ask Government to subsidize school fees for their kids. They will not ask government to subsidize medical cost for those who cannot afford. They will not ask for government support for the upkeep and education of orphans, the disabled etc. They will always ask the government to subsidize them to get tickets to go to Brazil to watch football matches and come back to sleep in tin houses and mosquito infested neighborhoods. The Government too knowing what their priorities are will subsidize them to go and watch football matches when we cannot complete the construction of a 30km road in 5 years. It makes me think if it was same heavenly father that created some people in other parts of this world who created Ghanaians.

FIFA accrues billions of dollars from each world cup event. After FIFA takes a Lion's share of the money, it shares the remaining money among the participating nations using a hand-crafted Ananse formula. Countries that finish close to the top get more money from the World Cup revenues. Nevertheless every country that participates even in the pre-world cup tournament eliminations gets 'something'. A large part of this money is FIFA's investment in football development in all countries in the form of stadium renovations and improvements training of coaches and investment in colts football.
The GFA should ask permission from FIFA so that some of the FIFA money allocation can be used to sponsor die-hard supporters of the famous Black Stars to Brazil. These sponsored supporters will then play an integral part in the Black Stars' quest for the trophy. All the mentioned groups could be organized under one command called the JERICHO batallion. With their trumpets , drums and congas they will be assigned strategic seats near the Black Star bench. Their role is to provide psychological support and inner strength to the Black Stars as the battles ebb and flow in the cauldrons of the Amazon. This group should have a collection of inspiring asabone songs which will stir the players on during the game. They could also make their own songs or play to the tune of : Go Black Stars Go, Even if he Sun blazes mercilessly, And the rains pour ceaselessly, And the winds howl like lions, Or the humidity is suffocating,Even if our opponents are formidable, Go Black Stars Go,The World Cup is worth dying for, Rise Black Stars Rise,We will conquer all our foes, Until we bring honour to Ghana, Go Black Stars Go.
The other Black Star fans in Ghana and all over the world should ask for local sponsors to fund their travel. In this way, as Lady Mavis has suggested, the government will spend the nations revenue on 'the Better Ghana Agenda'. The bulk of the country will watch the games on TV and tele-transmit their support to the Black Stars.
