I am not surprised at all, they are very liturgic and I believe they need a coach who understands that.

I lived around the Baba Yara Staduim in the 60`s and thus became very familiar with players & officials of the team - Asebi Boakye,Yara, Mambo,Coker(Kwabena Badu),Kwao Baffoe, Adarkwa,Salisu, Dogo Moro,Kwame Nti, Mfum,Yaw Sam,Asumeng,Osei Kofi, you name them - These were a dedicated group of gifted and skilled players, whose first priority, was the love for the game. Even much later when new crop came onto the scene - players like Rob Mensah, Odame,Malik,Ousumanu, Oliver Acquah,Joe Sam etc burst on the scene the team/fighting spirit was still very much evident. The se players knew what they were about, and did not have to rely too much on the coach to turn a game around.
What we see today is a joke, with many of these guys pre-occupied with money, money, money!
Incidentally, this is not confined to Kotoko FC alone, but the other teams as well. True, shinning stars like Essien,Muntari,Ayew Bros,Asamoah Gyan,Ayemang Badu,Kwadwo Asamoah,Atsu have emerged, but I can state without the fear of contradiction, that even these more productive/versatile players are no mach for the pioneers, who always gave 110% of themselves, game after game;and terained very hard even though many of them very taken care of by benfactors like Messrs B.K Edusei,Frank Aidoo among others.
Even though the word 'celebrity' was not in vogue then, you could see it by the way the public saw and treated them.
The other part of the story is the way many of today`s officials have tried to use clubs as cash-cows to be 'milked' for money! Many of these 'slick'and smooth-talking operators, have used their family names and connections to amass wealth at the expense of players, who are not top-rated anyway. The very promising talents are sold off before they and their agents jump ship;so what you have left is a bunch of riff-raffs[no-name players] who do not take the game seriously!
I new from the first-leg score line, that BYC chaps meant business, and were going to surprise this lack-lustre Kototo team! My prediction has come to pass.
Even our much-touted BS team, with all the highly-paid professionals risk being humiliated this time around because of all the shenanigans whirling around the tournament preparations and expenditures!
I pity the 'little' guys like Akwasi Appiah ad his technical staff when I recall what Bishop Dag Heward-Mills said a while ago:People in Ghana do things not because it is good for the country, but because they can make money! When our opponents are focused on serious training, our offcial are strategizing about how they can get to keep a lot of the 'windfall' from the tournament in their own pockets.

Kotoko were eliminated before they emplaned to Liberia. If you score two penalty goals at home whilst conceding a proper goal from the away team then you are already out of the competition. STOP blaming the hardworking and dedicated players with bribery and focus on rebuilding the team. $3000.00 dollars is no money to bribe a player. If you do not want any player, let him go in peace.

Let us be reasonable and accept defeat in good faith. There were clear signs leading to Kotoko's loss and we must stay in denial.
The CHAN 2014 competition in South Africa was the greatest contributor to Kotoko's poor show. The majority of our local stars who fielded in our national team were from Kotoko. The Champions league matches coming just after the CHAN meant that, Kotoko's key players had no time to rest with some of them even carrying various injuries.
But what dealt the fatal blow to Kotoko was the success chalked at the CHAN competition and the pride that came with it. The false logic is that: if a team dominated by Kotoko players could get to the final of the CHAN competition (and remaining unbeaten in open play throughout the competition), then Kotoko must be very strong. Thus the superstar feeling went into these players and now they have been rightly brought down to earth to see how ordinary they are.
It is therefore not prudent for anybody to make any reckless accusations of bribery. What is $3,000 for a national goalkeeper (of CAN 2013 finalist Burkina Faso)to be bribed with? Look at the first leg in Kumasi for example - had the referee not been very kind to give 2 penalties to Kotoko, they could not have scored any goal at home! Kotoko deserved to be eliminated.

The goat thinks its defacing the wall, forgetting that its rather creating sores on its skin. Kotoko fans thought they were given a little dose of their own medicine. When Kotoko buy matches, influence referees etc to get results they forget that the day of real reckoning will eventually come. Ghana league in the last 10 years has not been played competitively. There are sooooo many dubious practices that go into how the league is won and this reflects eventually in abysmally disappointing outing like what kotoko has been dealt with by an unfancied side like a certain BYC. shame on the administrators of Ghana football.

Kotoko will continue to taste modern continental defeat because it's traditional style of football promotes profligacy in front of goal. That is the crux of the matter. You can get away with that style only if we have a magician in your team but Kotoko don't have one nad hasn't for a long time. Hence, the club needs to be rebuilt itself along the lines play efficiency and effectiveness. At the mental, individual, team, coaching, management and fan levels, Kotoko is badly organized
