I totally disagree with Zakkour's suggestion that John Mensah should retire. Ghana could have gone far in their first World Cup appearance if they had included at least Abedi and Yeboah. In 1990, Cameroon sent Roger Millar to the World Cup and he made a great difference. What Zakkour and the likes should understand is that Ghana would be playing the Ronaldoes and the Mullars and we need experience and strong defenders such as John Mensah and Vorsah at the back. Let me remind him that John Mensah played with Essien, Muntari and Gyan. If these people have not retired how does he think John Mensah should retire. The younger players are doing good but what Mensah can do most of these young ones cannot during World Cup games.

This kind of thinking is a fallacy. The problem is if you can match John Mensah to the speed of Ronaldo. That is why you should agree when some argue that he should hang the boot. We cannot ignore his contributions to the national team but it is about time we let in the young ones.

How can you compare Abedi's situation to Roger Miller's, because both have different scenarios. Roger Miller was still active and playing for clubs in 1990 and 1994, although he had retired from the national team. He was a striker and still scoring goals. In Abedi's case,by 2000, Abedi Pele had retired from playing soccer. We played our first world cup in 2006 so how do you bring a rusty Abedi into the picture. Don't forget playing in the mid field is more difficult than a striker. With the mid-field you do a lot of running around the field and a lot of tackling of the opponents. So the mid field player needs a lot of stamina.

BECAUSE OF LACK IN BUSINESS ACUMEN,GHANAIANS TEND TO COPY EACH OTHER.Everyone tends to do the same thing.But difference makes the DOE.
I am in Toronto,but knows what I would be doing in Ghana,to make it huge,but lots might not even dream about it.
Money is all around the people in Africa,but at times,foreigners come there to discover them,and make huge businesses out of,at our detriment,because,we have eyes,but cannot discern things.
Anytime,I meet JOHN MENSAH,I would advise him on some ideas I have in business,that might yield millions of dollars.

The famous champion chairman has got it all wrong. John Mensah as a person has his own aspirations in life and nobody has the right to suppress his rights of choosing what to do with his life. Whether he is weak or not good enough for the Black Stars, is a question for Coach Kwesi Appiah to determine.
The upcoming world cup in Brazil has put some enthusiasm in all Ghanaian players who believe they are good enough for selection. This is good for Ghana and nobody should douse the fire. After all, this cannot confuse the coach who will make the final selection.
