There is no such thing as emotional intelligence. If you want to say that the players should remain calm when they are provoked on the pitch, just go ahead and make your point. Emotion and intelligence are two diametrically opposed concepts. I get your point. Black Star players should be less emotional on the field when they are provoked otherwise they will receive cards.

I had similar sentiments when I read the piece. The author has a very good point but the way he labelled it comes into question. Under the circumstances,emotional control to me is a bit more appropriate label than emotional intelligence. Yes, there will be intentional provocation by other "Suarezes" in Brazil. Should our players react like Essien and co did against Montenegro, they will certainly be sent off leading to catastrophe for the team. Discipline is as important as the ability of our players in Brazil. KA has to have a serious word with our players before they board the flight to Brazil in June.

After they scored an early goal we all watched the intensity of their defences and strongarm handling of our players.It was too late and too risky for KB, Mutari, Kojo Asamoah and Gyan to overcome their roughness. Appiah did same against Egypt but we had the luxury with an earlier 6 goal advantage. IT WAS A POOR PLAN I HOPE HE NOTES IT.

After reading your article, I sat back to digest the idea of emotional intelligence. "EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE REQUIRED AND IT CAN BE TAUGHT AND IMBIBED". Cathartic theory in sport competition is the emotional stage which found or bring the competitive edge out of athletes. This emotional outburst is always in respond to certain forces or behavior from the opponent. Mr. have in mind that sports competition in modern times is always a war between two group of people or a country without arms. And in wars you shoot your enemy or be shot.
I did not watch the game but I am sure it did not start that way from the beginning. The black stars were reacting to the constant lurching by the other team players. Coach Appiah had nothing to do when unyielding brutal tactics is displayed by the other team. Sulley and his group were only responding to the mischievous attacking by the opponent.
You have a weak argument here my man which is inconsequential. There was nothing cavalier about their warrior approach to the game. If you had been a competitor in any sports competition, you will see the flawless of the stars tactics of play. The instantaneous outburst to me was part of the athletic proclivities of a warrior competitor.

for strikers yiadom boakye and mahatma otoo are necessary. @ the world cup the much flaunted warris & djan partnership will flaunder. it will only serve to weaken the midfield. appiah should rather think of alternating warris/djan/yiadom/mahatma/jordan but not fielding any of the 2 @ a time. if warris is our best marksman for now so be it.
appiah should rather be careful the much touted strength in midfield does not become our main weakness because there are a lot of players there who are just not up to the task. appiah should quickly build his midfield around an essien's efficiency, rabius/afriyie acquah's stability & kvp's industry. THE PASSING & BALL CONTROLLING SKILLS OF MUNTARI, BADU & WAKASO is a desease.
