The problem with dealing with Ronaldo is that he moves across the attacking front line. He sometimes starts on the left wing, then swaps to go to the right wing or drop into the hole behind the central defender. This makes it impossible for one player to be detailed to mark him. We therefore need our back four to be well drilled and the responsibility to mark him be shared depending on where he decides to play at any particular time. e should also avoid giving away free kicks anywhere within 35 yards as he may punish us. He however can be marked successfully, he is only human after all.

I will invite all football loving Ghanaian fans to log on to the UK Daily Telegraph sports column (31/03/14) and read a really brilliant tribute paid by Fiifi Anaman to our national pride and ambassador Michael Essien. Well Appiah, your concern is very genuine and a lot might be put in place to curtail the influence of Ronaldo on the Ghana-Portugal match. For an arrow head team, the answer is simply. Tell Kwesi Appiah to replay the Kotoko- Kadiago match in Kumasi. No intention to remind Kotoko fans of the pain they would prefer to quickly forget, but to use a technical formula used on that day. Razak was the main engine for the Kotoko team and with neat footwork and one touch, tailor measured passes he succeeded in mesmerising the Kadiago defence and Kotoko won the first league by a lone goal. I was asked to stay back and spy on the Kadiogo team for the returned encounter in Kumasi.
Surprisingly, the coach promised to eliminate Kotoko in Kumasi despite the crop of players paraded by Kotoko. The coach was full of praises for Razak and wondered how he, as an albino, managed to stand the heat of Boukina faso and excelled. He however added that it is the same Razak who would be the nemesis for Kotoko and started to plot against him.
The Kadiogo team restructured and trained with a man down. They played all their trial matches with ten men. Massing in defense and occasional fast breaks were their strategy. The coach then got Nichiama and trained him to nuetralised the effect of Razak on the game, and behold, he did it to perfection until Razak raised his hands in the second half to be substituted.
Nichiama was in the game to police Razak and even refused to go loosed ball that came his way. I remember Opoko Afriyie tried to tease him by passing the ball to him and to the amazement of the fans Nichiama jumped over the ball for the to roll for a throw in. When even Razak approached the touch line to take water, Nichiama just rested as his side and refused to play. After the match, Nichiam confessed that he was brought from Boukina faso to play with only Razak and not with any other player. Kadiogo won the return encouter by a lne goal and eliminated Kotoko on penalty shootouts.
All Ghana need is to fond out Nichiama and Ronaldo will be a passenger in the game. Over to you Kwesi, I guess you might have the red shirt on that faithful day when all gutters in Kumasi were full of rejected Asante fufu and ebunoebonu. Laugh it off.

They asked the freakishly energetic Dani Alves to check his attacking instincts and stepping up to squeeze the space whenever Ronaldo attempted to cut inside, they reduced the Portuguese star to only one significant contribution - winning and scoring a penalty after a foul by Alves, which actually took place outside the box; ait was not a penalty at all.

Other teams including Black Stars can learn from Barca's approach by Crather than giving him any opportunity to attack through the middle. Don't commit fouls near the eighteen yard box.
