While citizens of rich countries are buying their own tickets to the World cup,citizens of a poor country like Ghana want the state to sponsor them.Unfortunately bcos our leaders are con-men they also support the idea.

Let us spend government funds wisely and for better benefit of the people. Today, I met a cocoa farmer who desperately need Ghc200 for orthopedic treatment. Her national healthcare insurance does not cover the treatment. How come the government cannot provide treatment for a dedicated farmer but can provide money for cheer leaders in Brazil? Is the water problem of Korle Bu hospital more of national priority than football supporting in Brazil?

Everything is geared toward officials. Why spend such huge sums of money on ambassadors, musicians, carpet mumbo jumbo, committee this and committee that, etc?? When will the insanity be cured in Ghanaian officials?

The hard truth is: “GHANA IS NOT BRINGING HOME ANY MEDAL”—Bronze, Silver or Gold, so all the silly and wanton folly spending is denying sick Ghanaians the health care they need, denying school children the books and study materials they need, denying communities clean drinking water and public latrines they need.

I’m a true Ghanaian and a proven soccer player myself, but no matter how long and hard Ghana fasts and prays, we’re not up to the TASK of winning Gold or Silver medal in Brazil. Where are your JUJU men, the fetish preists, Kramo-Kramo, Alhaji-Alhaji, priest this and pastor that? Ghana needs you now—not later!!

So, again: Our officials are exposing the supposed STUPIDITY of Africans. Can't the World Cup organizers in Ghana check with other countries and see how they're going about business? Yes, FOOLS galore in Ghana??

Is this a sheer stupidity or is a matter of "we(Mahama and his administration)don't care about the economic uncertainty the country has been facing for a while". This government of Mahama has never, during all these years of his stewardship, come up with any reasonable and sensible economic policies that an objective person could reasonably ever find those policies to be good and beneficial to the country.
To send a more than 100 and 14 extra government officials to represent Ghana at the World cup competition in Brazil is economically a dumb idea because the consequence of it could have adverse effect on the national economy as a whole.
In short, the decision to send that number of people to represent Ghana is unreasonable and just plain waste of public funds.
How about sending at most 6 officials (the football coach and 2 assistant coaches and 3 officials from the Ministry of Sports. Then lets send 22 players, i.e. 11 players and their backups or reserves for each position, and at most 4 or 5 supporters to attend to the needs of the players on the field. That would be economically sensible idea to consider.
