Do you know the dangers involved in carrying such a huge amount in cash to Brazil to pay allowances? Black Stars players have been known to have their cash stolen in camp.
Do you recall the minister of sports under Kufuor losing cash he carried with him to the CAF championship some years ago?
As has been reported a chartered plane has taken USD3.5million to Brazil to pay the allowances. If this is true I think it is risky and wrong. What security is in place to guard this money in the Black stars camp? The Black stars are being unreasonable in demanding cash payment .

In an act of charity that was reported last Monday by no less a renowned news hostess RACHEL MADDOW on her MSNBC news program, Sulley Ali Muntari was reported to have gone to a poor neighbourhood in the Brazilian town after their match with the Germans, and given out cash to the poor and needy. Rachel was full of praise for Muntari, and as a Ghanaian living here in the US, I couldn't have been more proud.
Where were our journalists to cover this story? Instead of reporting the the good deeds of our teams and players, we are again stuck with news about the stinking mess being created by a very inefficient GFA and Sports Ministry.
Muntari, you won my heart with your wonderful display of soccer last Saturday, but I am awed by your selflessness as a philanthropist. Keep up the good work. God bless you.

Couldn’t agree with you more. I read about Muntari’s benevolence with pride everywhere but in the Ghanaian press. Appearance money of $100,000 each is NOT such a large sum that these professional players would cry over. If the players demanded their $$ in cash there must have been a reason, namely that they do not trust the GFA - and why is that, have any of us asked? How come the nation's football authority, cannot be trusted by the senior football team it’s to collaborate with?
After all, it is their performance in the tournament that would benefit these players through better contracts with football clubs post FIFA ’14, so the players had every reason to collaborate. What motive would they have to misbehave, unless they were provoked or even worse, disgusted by the authorities' fat cat, excessive, resource draining lifestyle?
We talk about players’ lack of respect. Did GFA think to respect them? Why do we always talk about respect as though it were a one-way street?
What happened in Brazil this week was a disgrace to Ghana but no, it is not the players we should point the finger of blame at (not that I am condoning the player behaviour reported).
Let’s look to the top and demand authorities that are worth the nation’s and our footballers’ trust, ones that keep their side of a bargain with players and most importantly, do not drain public resources for their own enjoyment.
