  Breitner was not a full back he was a offensive midfielder who was the main engine of the Germany team that lost to Italy 3-1 at the world cup finals with Paolo Rossi of Italy winning the Golden boots. i have forgotten the year. those were the years when Ghana tv was showing " the PALL MALL SOCCER and he was the best German midfielder till the finals of that world cup. he retired after they were humiliated in the world cup finals by italy.
