The best way forward is to have a home based team for all our National teams who should be playing frequent friendly matches under the watch of the various coaches,we have the talents at home who can blend with the professionals to build a strong team.I knew coach Appiah was going to fail since he excluded the talents we saw in the U21 and local AFCON team's from the Blackstars and rather depended only on our professional players outside the country.

And we did it with the correct selection of both old and young but professionals who apply their trade in top class leagues. Our problem is MISMANAGEMENT,INCOMPTETENCE AND KOKOFU SELECTION. In the 2014 World Cup, the coaches were oblivious of defending against corner kicks, one against the US and the second against Germany. This suggestion of selection has come too late, after the fact and is utterly useless. Why not before the contest. Ability and talent amount to nothing because the battle is not always won by the strong nor the race by the swift. Anticipation is everything in problem resolution!!!

Then coach Appiah has no clue what to do. I could have done better than him. He has little say in the selection of players because he cannot think for himself. It was sheer luck that we qualified for the world cup. He is clueless. If you have all the resources and cannot make good use of it, what use is it?

Since most of the good players in Ghana play professional abroad, the coach must embark on occasional scouting trips to evaluate the players. Is the former minister implying that just because a guy is the best player in his village and doesn't even play in the domestic league he should be included in the pool of players for selection?

I will like to know why we can not talk about that? Is the sports ministry(GFA) that cause all the problems, why is that our previous world cup participation you did not say this, because we pretty much used the same players, or if not GFA used foreign based players.

E.T has made an important point. There are many talents in the nation if someone cared to look for them. Some of them may be raw talents; but that's why we have coaches. From the Universities to 3rd division clubs, there must be enough talents to take up at least, 60% of those who finally are groomed as Black Stars.
I also believe that it is high time we looked at the physique of our players. Modern scientific soccer takes how well-built (tall, powerful, strong) into consideration (you remember Zidane?). One may have noticed that at any serious Soccer Meet, Ghana's team is always among the 'little ones'. In the past players like Emmanuel Quarshie, Tony Yeboah, etc proved that power and physique are very important. Bukard Zieze was one coach who 'silently' tried to introduce physique into building a team. His 'policy' has to be picked up again. Please!
