  What at all is it that has happened to Ghanaians? Ghanaians used to be such intelligent and wise people, but judging from the kind of comments that one routinely comes across in the public domain, on Ghanaweb and on other social media platforms, one would think, like the Europeans do, that we still live on trees.
  
  First of all this cheap unknown media outlet, Sportscrusader.com, makes a report which is totally incongruous in substance and nature, to the actual interview which took place on Joy fm last weekend.
  
  Then Ghanaweb randomly and with little circumspect, picks it up and disingenuously plants it on its media platform in a style and manner that would encourage the wretched of the earth to make a meal out of it – and as sure as night follows day, they surely have done so.
  
  In the said interview, which I accidentally came across by sheer happenstance, I overheard a typically idiotic, woefully uninformed and an irritatingly ignorant host of a sports program trying to bully the young girl, who he was interviewing by phone, to accept and submit to his ignorant and spiteful perception that they the Ghanaian athletes had failed miserably at the Commonwealth games.
  
  However by the time this impetuous bumbling journalist had attempted his third question to pry apologetic answers from the girl to his silly subjective questions, this little 20 year-old girl had reduced the image of the said journalist(?) to that of a mere common illiterate – a village buffoon.
  
  In a further attempt to hide his shame and embarrassment at the way the girl had made him look unprofessional and foolish, he made matters worse by trying to stonewall the girl with weird remarks that he did not want academic answers to his questions. He virtually had to beat a retreat from the firm, realistic and unbending opinions of the girl.
  
  The young athlete, who was very well-spoken and polite, but resolute and clear in her answers, made the said journalist, whose name I do not recall, understand that the hundreds of other athletes from many other nations who participated in the games, had immensely benefited from well-planned preparations prior to the tournament. On the other hand, Ghanaian athletes, who were not offered the privilege, nor the encouragement of any meaningful preparations, were being constantly criticized, hounded and discouraged by sections of the Ghanaian media.
  
  Under the circumstances, she made it clear that even though many of them, through personal effort, had improved upon their performances and some had even broken national records, a lot more could have been achieved if the govt and the unsupportive Ghanaian media had also honoured their side of the bargain.
  
  In another attempt to save face, the host of the program attempted to deny that the Ghanaian media were unduly criticizing the athletes. However when the young girl and another person who seemed to be one of the team handlers, made reference to some damning articles against the athletes, this ill-prepared and unprincipled journalist, shut his beak up in retreat.
  
  This eloquent young girl who will definitely go places in the future, either as an athlete , sports administrator or a politician, casually pointed out to the journalist that in spite of all the enthusiasm with which they had participated in the games, it was not possible for them to perform better than others who had prepared for years before the games and that under the circumstances, all that was left for them to do was to do their best at the Games, even if it only meant improving their performances.
  
  Now how can anybody with a little bit of sense in his head, not understand this principled and enlightening posture?
  
  What annoys me more than anything else is the way people, who from the way they present their opinions on Ghanaweb, and who do not appear to be capable of properly wiping their asses, have the temerity and the audacity, normally without knowing the full facts, to insult, vilify, condemn and demonize people like this young girl who at her young age, has achieved more than any of them have ever accomplished in their entire working lifetime.
